Freak hail storm in siberia

A video captured on a beach in Novosibirsk, Siberia, looks like an apocalyptic scene from The Day After Tomorrow.

People are seen enjoying a sunny day day at the beach before the 99F weather instantly turns into a massive hailstorm.

A woman later told The Siberian Times:

"My husband was protecting my young daughter but his back was exposed to the hailstones and he has bruising all over it"

This is hardly a freak occurrence. We had one here in MN a few years ago. It was a hot, humid day and it came out if nowhere. It’s scary, too. When hail rips through it tears the leaves off of trees so when the wind picks up there’s a bunch of debris flying around and it makes you think a tornado is coming. Also, whenever it is hot and humid the weather is considered “unstable” and it can change in a second.

Not uncommon. Any time you have hail fall in water it looks much worse because the splashes show each impact, which you don’t see when the stones hit land.

Yikes! Indeed, “apocalyptic” is not hyperbolic! Somehow did not look like 99F right prior, too much motion vs. languid, but hard to tell.

We get those often in Texas. They tend to happen in the spring here (during tornado season). We had an especially bad one back in March. Some of the hail was big this time (though not where I live where it didn’t get above golfball size).

It’s just a hail storm…happens all the time to places outside of the coasts. Try one that you actually have to shovel (or wait to melt).

And man, that beach is depressing. Is that grass growing in the “sand”?
