  1. yes, we still need Provincetown and Fire Island. I don't get this whole "marriage equality and assimilation" talk.

some places just ooze our collective history. my first time to Fire Island...well... i had to take an hour each day to just sit and weep. i was overwhelmed by it all - the knowledge of so many of my brothers who sought an escape from not just a world of hatred, but for a place to Be Theirs. a peaceful respite as their friends around them died. a place to dance and have those long talks with close friends where we divulged every secret and hope and swapped stories.

    heaven on earth.

i don't understand this "assimilation" talk - i regularly hang out with my straight friends and all that Mixed Company stuff. but you know what? sometimes i want to be around family. i want to spend time with my brothers who speak the same shorthand language as me.

  2. Is Jared Leto doing a movie or something? He's had that 'anorexic hobo' look for a while now.

  4. It's astonishing that Peter Pan is still being played by women. This isn't 1950 any more. Good grief, Chris Colfer could certainly do it, not to mention many of the young men who try out for the stage and screen every year.

  5. "Do we still need gay resorts like Provincetown and Fire Island in an era of marriage equality and assimilation?"

Why would it be a matter of "need"? That's not the point. We will always be a minority, and there's always a thrill being the majority, even if it's only for a vacation. It's one thing to lose our neighborhoods, because that reflects progress, but to lose our meeting places and vacation spots is a different thing entirely, and would highlight our community's failure to transmit culture to the next generations.

  6. Poor Orlando... everytime I see that skank's mug on the street, I am tempted to break the show windows.
He really needs to make a clean break from his disgusting tramp of that ex-ish wifey. Ugh.

  8. Not all of us live in areas where we can be open and comfortable. Sometimes we need to get away to a place where we can totally relax. I live in Los Angeles and even I sometimes feel the need to be completely comfortable in an all-gay place, like Palm Springs, for a few days.
I find Orlando Bloom extremely attractive.
