Jon Stewart Is Already Exhausted With the Media's Obsession with Hillary Clinton: VIDEO

Stewart1

Campaign season has only just begun, but Jon Stewart is already sick and tired of the media's rabid obsession with Hillary Clinton's every move and restaurant stop.

If Clinton's campaign van contained ice cream or former One Direction member Zayn Malik, Stewart might understand the craze. But as is, it's just too much too soon.

Jon Stewart Studies Hillary Clinton's 2016 Announcement and the Republican Reaction: VIDEO

Hill_stewart

Jon Stewart is excited that Hillary Clinton has finally done something the Republicans "have been anticipating since 1978" but finds it "weird" that she "had to share her announcement with a guy from a gravel company."

Stewart also looks at the response from the Republican opposition including Rand Paul, Reince Preibus, Ted Cruz, and NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre, who called shat she'll bring "a permanent darkness of deceit and despair."

Then Stewart joined Senior Daily Show Correspondent Jessica Williams for reaction.

Jon Stewart Comes for Indiana, Memories Pizza, and 'Religious Liberty' Bills: VIDEO

Indiana_stewart

Jon Stewart finally took a look at the bigoted goings-on in Indiana last week and the news bytes featuring various wingnuts surrounding it, particularly those who compared gay loving couples to a hate group.

It's been a while since I've taken the SATs but I believe the formulation as you defend yourselves sas this. This couple (photo of lesbian couple Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon) is to Christian business as these folks (shows photo of KKK members) are to everyone else. 'I'm not discriminating. I have nothing against gay people. I'm just saying that to Christians, catering an elderly lesbian wedding is like making a Jew slow-dance with Hitler. That's all I'm saying.' Do you see how f--ked up that is???"

Finally, Stewart took a look at the motherlode of cash ($842,000+) Memories Pizza received in a GoFundMe campaign after they announced they would refuse to cater a gay wedding.

Daily Show senior correspondent Jordan Klepper went to Indiana and he's going to open a few businesses there - Recollections Pizza, and Deja Vu Meatballs. He's looking to cash in on the bigotry!

Comedy Central Defends Trevor Noah Amidst Backlash Over Offensive Jokes

Screenshot 2015-04-01 09.18.27

Comedy Central has come out in support of its Daily Show successor Trevor Noah following a wave of public criticism in response to a handful of the comedian’s resurfaced tweets. Comedy Central caught fans of its popular satirical news show off guard earlier this week when it announced that Noah, a young South African comedian, would be replacing Jon Stewart in the hosting chair later on this fall. Though Noah contributed to the show in the past, his landing the gig surprised many, but was initially met with congratulations from big-name comics like Chris Rock.

As people began to delve into Noah’s past in the hours following the announcement, the pendulum began to swing in the other direction. Noah’s been a Twitter user since 2009 and in the time since then he’s made his fair share of questionable tweets. In particular a number of his tweets making jokes about women and Jewish people have drawn public scorn, prompting many to question why Comedy Central didn’t vet him more thoroughly.

Almost bumped a Jewish kid crossing the road. He didn't look b4 crossing but I still would hav felt so bad in my german car!

Noah quickly responded via Twitter, imploring people not to judge by a small selection of his tweets that--while offensive--were meant as jokes.

“Like many comedians, Trevor Noah pushes boundaries; he is provocative and spares no one, himself included,” a Comedy Central representative shared in a statement. “To judge him or his comedy based on a handful of jokes is unfair. Trevor is a talented comedian with a bright future at Comedy Central.”

For all the outrage leveled at Noah for his old jokes, there were some critics who were unsurprised at the tone of his humor. Writing for the Washington Post Wendy Todd points out that the bulk of Noah’s non-Daily Show material has revolved around lampooning race to varying degrees of success. In particular, Todd notes, Noah’s known for his critical commentary about black American culture that, for some, comes across as stereotypical and hostile.

Trevor Noah to Succeed Jon Stewart as Host of 'The Daily Show': VIDEO

Trevor_noah

Trevor Noah, a South African comic who made his debut as a contributor in December, will succeed Jon Stewart as host of The Daily Show, the NYT reports:

The network’s selection of Mr. Noah comes less than two months after Mr. Stewart, 52, revealed on Feb. 10 that he was leaving “The Daily Show” after a highly successful 16-year run that transformed the show into authoritative, satirical comedy on current events. (An exact timetable for Mr. Stewart’s departure has not been decided, Comedy Central said.)

...The appointment of Mr. Noah, a newcomer to American television, promises to add youthful vitality and international perspective to “The Daily Show.” It puts a nonwhite performer at the head of this flagship Comedy Central franchise, and one who comes with Mr. Stewart’s endorsement.

“I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor,” Mr. Stewart said in a statement. “He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with.” Mr. Stewart added that he “may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!!!”

Tweeted Noah after the announcement: "No-one can replace Jon Stewart. But together with the amazing team at The Daily Show, we will continue to make this the best damn news show!"
