'Documentary' on Impending Criminalization of Christianity Features a Who's Who of Anti-gay GOP Loons: VIDEO

Gop

Last week, we reported on an upcoming religious "documentary" titled Light Wins: How to Overcome the Criminalization of Christianity detailing the supposed persecution of Christians at the hands of the LGBT fight for equality.

In that first preview video released, we saw Mike Huckabee and Scott Lively spouting anti-gay bile. Now, Right Wing Watch has pointed to a second preview featuring a number of current GOP congressmen with piss poor track records on equality issues.

Featured in the new preview:

  • Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) - Compared gay rights advocates to Nazis and has expressed his concern that same-sex massages in the military will leave gay military service members "vulnerable to terrorism".
  • Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) - Claimed the Supreme Court's DOMA ruling was an attack on Jesus Christ and harmful to children. In 2013, he also reintroduced the Federal Marriage Amendment which would constitutionally ban same-sex marriage nationwide.
  • Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) - In 2011 proposed impeaching Obama over the president's support for the repeal of DOMA.
  • Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) - Called a federal judge's ruling overturning Kentucky's ban on gay marriage "illegitimate". He also landed in hot water in 2013 after linking gay marriage to polygamy and "non-human" marriage.

Rather than sum up the jaw-dropping statements made in the second preview of this sham film, it might be best if you just check it out yourself AFTER THE JUMP...

Glenn Beck: Elect Gohmert Speaker of the House to Save America - VIDEO

BECK

Bastion of enlightened thinking Glenn Beck is urging Republicans to call on their members of Congress to vote for Rep. Louie Gohmert as Speaker of the House now that Gohmert has announced he is challenging Rep. John Boehner for his party's top leadership post in the House of Representatives reports Right Wing Watch:

“Louie is not going to compromise, Louie is the guy. We have another chance, America, we have another chance. Please don’t pass this signpost, please, there’s another exit, take it,” Beck said on his show today, adding that conservatives should consider themselves “done with the Republican Party” if Boehner secures re-election.

“Shut the switchboard down, tell everybody you know in the freedom movement, ‘Louie Gohmert.’ Call them now,” he said.

You may recall Gohmert's previous remarks comparing gay rights advocates to Nazis as well as his concern about gay massages in the military that notably (and hilariously) landed him in the cross-hares of comedian Stephen Colbert.

Rep. Louie Gohmert Announces Bid to Replace John Boehner As House Speaker: VIDEO

Screen Shot 2015-01-04 at 2.14.01 PM

Louie Gohmert, the Texas congressman who is a little too familiar with the sex lives of caribou and thinks gays are unfit for military service because massages from their lovers makes them "vulnurable to terrorism," announced today his plan to unseat John Boehner as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Fox News reports:

BoehnerGohmert, among the House Republican caucus’ most conservative members, made the announcement on “Fox and Friends,” saying he decided to run after Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., said Saturday that he would challenge Boehner for the chamber’s top post.

“We have heard from a lot of Republicans that said, ‘I would vote for somebody besides speaker Boehner.’ But nobody will put their name out there,” Gohmert said. “That changed yesterday with Ted Yoho.”

Gohmert also hinted that another House member will announce a challenge to Boehner on Sunday.

Boehner once again returns to Capitol Hill amid challenges to keep his post, largely from the conservative members who most recently say he caved in by agreeing last month to a $1.1 trillion temporary federal spending bill, which averted another partial government shutdown.

Group members complained in part because they think Boehner did not try to punish President Obama enough for sidestepping Congress on immigration reform.

Stephen Colbert Agrees with Louie Gohmert's Warnings About Gay Massage in the Military: VIDEO

Gohmert_colbert

Last week, wingnut Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) issued a warning about gays in the military:

"I've had people say, 'Hey, you know, there's nothing wrong with gays in the military. Look at the Greeks.' Well, you know, they did have people come along who they loved that was the same sex and would give them massages before they went into battle. But you know what, it's a different kind of fighting, it's a different kind of war and if you're sitting around getting massages all day ready to go into a big, planned battle, then you're not going to last very long."

Stephen Colbert agrees:

"Gohmert knows his history, or he may have just been watching the gay version of the film 300, by which I mean the one released in theaters."

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) Explains Why Same-Sex 'Massages' Make Gays Unfit for Military Service - VIDEO

Gohmert

Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas, who has found ways to oppose gun control because...same-sex marriage (?), was quite vocal recently about Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Of course he opposed the repeal of the discriminatory policy, but who knew his reasoning could be this far-fetched.

When the ancient Greeks and man-on-man massages play into your law-making, you can't exactly claim you "know your history," as Gohmert does.

Right Wing Watch reports on his statement:

"I've had people say, 'Hey, you know, there's nothing wrong with gays in the military. Look at the Greeks,'" he said. "Well, you know, they did have people come along who they loved that was the same sex and would give them massages before they went into battle. But you know what, it's a different kind of fighting, it's a different kind of war and if you're sitting around getting massages all day ready to go into a big, planned battle, then you're not going to last very long. It's guerrilla fighting. You are going to be ultimately vulnerable to terrorism and if that's what you start doing in the military like the Greeks did ... as people have said, 'Louie, you have got to understand, you don't even know your history.' Oh yes I do. I know exactly. It's not a good idea."

Right, because gay servicemembers, given the chance to enter combat, will resort to the ancient Greek philosophy: massages before fighting, what could go wrong?

Someone please keep history from repeating itself and do not reelect Gohmert.

Rep. Louie Gohmert Comments on the Benhams, Compares Gay Rights Advocates to Nazis: VIDEO

Gohmert

Rep. Louie Gohmert referenced the anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-Muslim Benham brothers ("people that were going to be on the television show before it was canceled") today in a speech on the House floor denouncing the "intolerance" of gay rights advocates (my transcript):

"People that stand up and say you know I agree with the majority of Americans, I agree with Moses and Jesus, that marriage is between a man and a woman. Now all of a sudden people like me are considered 'haters, hatemongers, evil' which really is exactly what we've seen throughout our history going back to the days of the Nazi takeover in Europe. They would call people 'haters' and 'evil' and build up disdain for those people who held those opinions or religious views, or religious heritage. And then next came 'well those people are so evil and hateful let's bring every book that they've written or has to do with them and let's start burning the books cause we can't tolerate their intolerance...It's called projecting. Someone that has a characteristic - to divert condemnation on themselves they project their characteristic on someone whom they disagree."
