Maybe it’s just the mood I’m in today but there’s something that feels desperately lonely about this sad photograph of a wrinkled yellow T-shirt and pair of shorts once owned by the late porn legend Joey Stefano and put up for sale from the estate of dead drag queen Karen Dior. Perhaps it’s the other items in the photo — the cluttered apartment or the dusty crystal chandelier — that lend the photo a lugubrious quality. Or knowing that the hard, fast, self-destructive life of Nick Iacona ended in a drug overdose. Or the notion that somebody might want to buy two ordinary, unsexual articles of clothing simply to be one step closer to a fantasy on a porn video from the 80’s.
