A 33-year-old gay man was beaten in an apparent hate crime early on Sunday morning on his way to the Roxy nightclub in Chelsea. The man was walking with a friend when he was passed by another man who made an anti-gay comment. When the victim responded, the attacker punched him in the face and another man hit him from behind. The attackers fled and the victim was treated for head injuries and released from St. Vincent’s Hospital.
