Dan Piraro’s syndicate, King Features, told the cartoonist that some readers were getting P.O.ed at his progressive politics and threatened to cancel subscriptions. So Piraro changed the caption on a strip he had going out that referenced gay marriage to make it less controversial (and a lot less interesting). The change was later discovered when Piraro accidentally sent the original strip out to some of his clients. You can see both versions at Proceed at Your Own Risk.
