UC Santa Cruz students stage “queer kiss-in” to protest military recruiting at the school. The Solomon Amendment states that any school which denies military recruiters equal access could lose federal aid. The military's “Don't Ask, Don't Tell” policy, however, is at odds with the school's “anti-discrimination policies. A case challenging the Solomon Amendment is due to go before the Supreme Court this December and will be the first chance to see how newly installed Chief Justice Roberts rules on a gay issue.
