Victor Lopez, 18, and David Andrade, 19, have been arrested by police after targeting gay men at a Long Island rest stop by promising them sex, then luring them into secluded areas where they were duct-taped, accosted, threatened with a firearm, and robbed. One attacker would take the victim's ATM card and pin number to a local ATM and withdraw money while the other attacker waited with the victim.
Police said that Lopez and Andrade told the victims “they were robbed because they hate homosexuals.”
The arrests came following an attack last Monday night, after which the victim went to police with descriptions of the individuals.
Coincidentally, less than a month ago, the New York Times published the controversial story “A Sex Stop on the Way Home” which detailed the habits of married men on Long Island who frequent highway rest stops for sex.
