Marcel Duchamp’s “Fountain”, a white porcelain urinal that last year was voted the world’s most influential work of modern art by a panel of 500, has been attacked and chipped by a 76-year-old man with a hammer. The vandal said his act, which took place in the Pompidou Center in Paris, was a work of performance art itself.
The work’s estimated value is $3.6 million.
