Did Pope Benedict actually do some good? We’re starting to like the new San Francisco Archbishop, a lot. His statements in an interview to the SF Chronicle have the homophobic Catholics scratching their heads: “During the interview, Archbishop Niederauer makes a disturbing statement which could easily infer that while pedophilia is abnormal, homosexuality is certainly not. In the interview Wyatt questions Niederauer about a statement noting that homosexuality cannot be seen as the cause of the sexual abuse scandal. Niederarer responds, “People who see the sex abuse scandal as having as ‘the’ cause the sexual orientation of the priests, I felt they are mistaken. Because when we’re talking about pedophilia we’re talking about a sickness, an illness, an aberration.”
Costs to the U.S. military for discharging and replacing soldiers under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy are twice what the government estimated. U.S. taxpayers have paid $364 million dollars over the past ten years to facilitate this discriminatory policy. Commission member: “”The real issue here is that you have a policy that is costing us money, hurting readiness and is really not fulfilling any national security objective. It just doesn’t make sense now, particularly when you’re having such a hard time getting people to join the military and retaining them in the right skills.”
Eleven men in the United Arab Emirates have been sentenced to five years in jail for taking part in preparations for a mass gay wedding. Case will go to appeal.
