A California State appellate court heard arguments yesterday over whether justices erred last year when they ruled a state ban on gay marriage unconstitutional.
According to the Contra-Costa Times, the appellate judges appeared skeptical when attorneys from the Liberty Counsel (pictured above) who are representing the pro-traditional marriage group, argued that the purpose of limiting marriage to a man and a woman is to protect procreation:
“Justices made it clear that the state allows marriage in situations in which procreation has no role.”
A large group of protestors outside the Court held up signs opposing the ‘pro-family' viewpoint. The appellate court has 90 days to issue a ruling, which is expected to give a hint about how the California Supreme Court might rule on the issue.
