Queerty has some colorful photos from the massive rally that took place yesterday outside the Massachusetts State House as lawmakers prepared to debate a proposal to outlaw same-sex marriage in that state.
Before the emotionally charged issue could be brought up though, legislators moved to put off the debate on that proposed amendment until after the November 9 general election. The Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts recently ruled that an amendment banning same-sex marriage can be placed on the ballot if approved by the state legislature.
According to the Associated Press, “The House gallery erupted in applause from gay-rights activists after the vote to recess was announced. Opponents condemned lawmakers for postponing debate. ‘It's a real cop-out,' said Kris Mineau, president of the Massachusetts Family Institute.”
