Via XO's Middle Eight comes the sad news that singer Lamya has died. Lamya was best known to me for her 2002 track “Empires” from her album Learning from Falling. She reportedly recorded an album called Hiding in Plain Sight which was due for release this year.
A message on her MySpace page reads: “….It is with deepest regret to have to inform you all that Lamya has passed away on the 8th of January 2009 in her home town (in) Oman. She died of a heart attack. This has come as a great shock to all of her family and dear friends as I am sure it is to YOU her fans. We will dearly miss her and may God rest her soul.”
