A hearing on a proposal sponsored by more than 60 lawmakers that would repeal a state law limiting marriage to a man and a woman and replacing it with language authorizing a marriage between two people is expected to draw so many people the hearing date has been moved up and the venue changed.
The hearing will now take place at the Augusta Civic Center on April 22 rather than April 24.
