UPDATE: Servicemembers Legal Defense Network "cannot recommend that lesbian, gay, or bisexual service members participate in any survey" because there is no guarantee that they won't be outed in the process and subject to expulsion under the very policy about which they are being polled.
The Pentagon has sent a survey to 400,000 service members asking for their opinions on the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. The survey is meant to assess issues of morale, readiness and the overall comfort level of serving alongside gay men and women.
Getting those Census forms back was hard enough, now this? And does anyone think this is another "let the people decide" cop-out along the lines of Linda Lingle's Hawaii veto remarks? I thought the service members took orders rather than giving them.
