Last night, Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum (above left) told her Twitter followers they would need to wait until Monday before she would start issuing marriage licenses, but at about 6:33 am this morning she tweeted that she was going to be opening today at 8 am.
Write Byrum:
"Ingham County residents wishing to marry: The Clerk's Mason Office WILL BE OPEN at 8am TODAY! People have waited long enough. I was sick with myself with the idea of waiting until Monday. You must apply in the county in which you or your partner reside. At least one of the individuals must be a resident of the county in which a couple applies."
The Muskegon County Clerk, Oakland County and the Washtenaw County (Ann Arbor) Clerk will issue licenses on Saturday as well. See red shaded counties on map.
