Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has said that if elected he intends to fight same-sex marriage in order to protect children, reports Right Wing Watch.
Santorum was responding to a caller during a June 16th conference organized by righteous anti-gay pastor E.W. Jackson.
Santorum was asked why the government “allows people that hurt children by way of child molestation” to impose their views upon the nation.
Playing to the field by relating pedophilia to same-sex marriage, he replied:
“That's one of the reasons why I talk about the importance of focusing on the nuclear family.
“[A SCOTUS approval of same-sex marriage] doesn't mean we won't fight and try to push back both as the Congress should and as the president should as a co-equal branch of the government.
“Depending on what they rule, we would certainly make sure that we are protecting children and that we are creating an optimal atmosphere for every child, as I said, that have their birthright, which is to be raised by their mother and father.”
Santorum previously vowed to fight a pro-equality ruling from SCOTUS when he stopped by Meet The Press late last month.
