Donald Trump on Sunday night blasted out a tweet warning Iran following remarks by its President Hassan Rouhani, who warned that trying to stop the flow of oil from that country would create “the mother of all wars.”
Tweeted Trump in response: “To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!”

Of course, it’s business as usual, and says more about the encroaching Mueller probe than anything else, as evidenced by what he starts tweeting about on Monday morning:
"Trump is kind of a master of projection and also distraction," says @MaxBoot. "With any previous President, if you'd woken up to this all-caps tweet threatening war with Iran, you'd think he probably belongs in a padded cell, but with Trump this is kind of business as normal" pic.twitter.com/uhqNz7slXl

Iran on Monday said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was interfering in its affairs, Reuters reports: ‘“Pompeo’s speech on Sunday was a clear interference in Iran’s state matters…such policies will unite Iranians who will overcome plots against their country,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said. Pompeo on Sunday denounced Iran’s leaders as a “mafia” and promised unspecified backing for Iranians unhappy with their government.
On Monday morning, Trump was also tweet-quoting conservative activist Tom Fitton in a defense of his administration from the Mueller probe (as usual), urging people to watch his favorite State TV show FOX & Friends.
