Italy beat France with a penalty kick to win the World Cup, but the moment everyone is talking about is bad sport Zinedine Zidane's 110th-minute headbutt of Italian player Marco Materazzi which sent him to the ground. The retiring Zidane was given a red card as a good-bye yet was still awarded the Golden Ball as the World Cup's best player.
Said French coach Raymond Domenech: “I've said it from the start, only victory is pretty. There will always be something missing. You can say what we did wasn't bad, but it's Italy who are champions.”
