Love and Religion
After reading posts this morning from Nervous Acid and Bravo I thought I'd share a transcript from a bootleg Madonna recording I have that was recorded at her intimate concert last year in Paris at La Cantine du Faubourg.
[Introducing the song X-static Process]
"This next song started out being a love song but then the subject of Jesus crept in and I realized that my problem with men is the same as my problem with Jesus, and that is if you give Jesus/men more power than they deserve, you will get fucked."
[noise from audience]
"What are you talking about? This is my opinion, this is not the opinion of my band. They can voice their opinion when they make their own fucking record!"
"I love men, it's just that when you give them too much power, when you make them bigger than you are, when you act like they're more important than you are, when you idolize them..."
[inaudible audience yelling]
"Religion is love?? No! Love has nothing to do with religion. No. Religion is an idea that someone pushes on you. Religion is judgment. Religion is suffering. Religion is conforming. Religion is establishment. Fuck Allah. Love has nothing to do with religion. Love does not divide."

Love her or hate her....she apparently has no internal filter.
I like her music and think she is generally talented, but trust me dear soul, I do not buy her music or concert tickets to get her opinions on sex, religion, or whatever else is on her mind at the moment.

I think she has a point; however, whenever you use profanity, it tends to take away your credibility. I am perhaps one fo the world's biggest opponent of religion, but I don't know if I'd go so far as to say something like that. I see a lot of celebrities do that, and it always backfires.

Just to prevent getting a wrong picture of her: she DID NOT say "Fuck Allah", she said "fuck all that"!
I think this has to be corrected!
