On eve of traditionally raunchy Fantasy Fest, officials look to crack down on Key West's wild ways.
Book about Thatcherism and gay sex defeats favorite to win Britain's distinguished Booker Prize. This is perhaps the literary world's most prestigious honor. Alan Hollinghurst's The Line of Beauty is the first book of gay fiction ever to win the award.

Hollinghurst is a good writer, The Swimming Pool Library is fascinating & erotic. BTW, he was up against another gay writer, Irishman Colm Toibin.
