Christian Coalition Loses Pres-Elect Over Gay Marriage Obsession
The Christian Coalition, an organization of over two million members that was founded in 1989 by Pat Robertson, lost its president-elect — the Reverend Joel C. Hunter (pictured on screen) — last week because the group "wouldn't let him expand its agenda beyond opposing abortion and gay marriage."
Apparently poverty and the environment, "issues that Jesus would want us to care about" according to Hunter, were of no interest to the group.
Said Hunter: "They pretty much said, 'These issues are fine, but they're not our issues, that's not our base.'"
Would Jesus have considered the poor and the natural world his base?

Ah, there's nothing like good ol' Christian values.

Well, according to Christ we are ALL part of his base.... even those Xtian bigots. They need Christ's love most of all... too bad they're focussed on bullying greed and politics... the very things Christ warned his followers to avoid.

What would Jesus do? It doesn't matter anymore, Jesus has been made irrelevant. Get over it. The Christian Coalition has about as much to do with Jesus Christ as Christian Bros. brandy or Christian Bale or the YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association).

surprise surprise. Sadly, not
He is an interesting guy. He has a bible that he carries around with all the verses about the poor taken out, supposedly there isn't much of a bible left. He uses it as a visual aid.

The Christian Coalition was afraid that they would have to give away some of their money if they took on the poor and "real" issues. It is all about the money, and the gays of course!

Most Christians have rejected Christ because they don't love their neighbors as themselves, don't turn the other cheek, don't forgive, and don't do anything else God told them to do. Everyone needs to start calling them out using Christ's words. None of them have been put on the spot publicly for their hypocrisy, and won't because of media ownership. Call them out individually. Respond to every conservative email with Christ's own words. Shame them back to their holes.

These dudes are about as Christian as I am.
There's just nothing Christian about them; they're like the Pharisees, endlessly condemning others for some infraction of religious law outdated even in Christ's time, poking the splinter in the other guy's eye while ignoring the big fat beam in their own.
Even the depressingly anti-woman Catholics are better than them; at least when they say they're pro-life, they mean it! and protest against nuclear weapons and poverty and shit.
Grrr to the religious right!
