  1. This looks great. Fincher is a genious. Looks like Jake created a very different character for this role. Cant wait!!

  2. LOVE... LOVE LOVE LOVE David Fincher. "The Game" is one of my all time favourite films. I could tell is was David Fincher immediately in the first three seconds, he tends to love focusing on sounds, especially echoes and three-dimensional sound qualities, and loves details in cinematography. Excellent, thanks for the links Andy, now I'm excited about a movie release again...

  3. Ok, watch that trailer again. I could be very wrong, but in the beginning when Jake is at a table (dinner) watching the news in the background there is a woman with blond hair and glasses who looks remarkably like Robert Downey, Jr. in drag (anyone remember his role in "In Dreams" w/ Annette Benning in which he was a cross dressing sociopath killer?). If anyone else sees it (or doesn't) let me know, maybe I'm seeing things lol...

  4. I humbly suggest an anniversary salute to where most of us were about this time last year: longing to finally see Jake and Heath in Brokeback, and holding our breath that it would be even half as good as we hoped.

For me, it was better and truer and more resonant than I'd even imagined, let alone hoped, and, like one's first great kiss or first romantic sex, I wish I could somehow experience seeing it for the first time again.

  5. That's not a woman in drag. It's Chloe Sevigny.

The trailer almost makes the movie seem like a comedy, doesn't it? Interesting use of music though. There is a synthesizer sound that reminds me of the "Halloween" score, while Rod Stewart's cover of "I'm Losing You" is an expected choice.

On first impression, Gyllenhaal is sort of working his Donnie Darko/"Bubble Boy" thing in this movie. Or at least the loner introvert type.

  6. Did I say "woman in drag?" I'm stupid. I meant man in drag. Duh. Sorry about that.

  7. ooops, looks like a dissed a female actress lol... but it kind of does looks like it for a second...

  8. I beg to differ. I think that Chloe Sevigny always looks like a "woman in drag" [sic]. There is also a strong physical resemblence in her character to Robt Downey Jr as a man in drag. This movie looks to be either very good or terribly bad. But two hours in the dark with Jake cannot be all bad.

And, Leland, I second your call for an anniversary salute to BBM. Watch it again after a few weeks of not viewing the DVD. It is so well made with so many details and nuances that it will be almost like watching it for the first time. For the best review of BBM (IMHO) and a crystalization of everything that magnificent work of art means to many of us, read Fox's review on the Pajiba site.

  9. I do think Jake is cute, but there is a little bit of that "Short Bus" look about him.

  10. As Frank Barrone would say; Holy Crap!
Chloe looks exactly like Robert Downey in drag!
Is she playing Downey's character's transexual sister?
