Buddharoad.jpg Boy hailed as reincarnation of Buddha reappears after nine months in the wilderness: "The 17-year old teenager Bomjon, who had been "meditating without any food or water" in the jungles of Ratanpuri village in the district had disappeared under unknown circumstances in March this year and was found in the jungles near Pathlaiya-Nijgadh road section of the Mahendra Highway on Sunday."

road.jpg Lawrence, Kansas (home to the University of Kansas) is considering a city registry for gay and lesbian couples: "Supporters said the registry would not automatically give gay and lesbian couples the legal rights afforded to married couples, but the registry would serve as a legal recognition of the couple's relationship. 'It would indicate that the city is welcoming and supportive of its gay community members,' said Maggie Childs, who heads the Lawrence chapter of the Kansas Equality Coalition, which asked Lawrence Commissioner Mike Rundle to set up the registry. 'In my mind, the primary benefit is symbolic.'"

road.jpg In the latest of its high-concept fashion ads, Diesel takes on global warming.

road.jpg First inhabited island washed off the face of the earth by global warming: "The obliteration of Lohachara island, in India's part of the Sundarbans where the Ganges and the Brahmaputra rivers empty into the Bay of Bengal, marks the moment when one of the most apocalyptic predictions of environmentalists and climate scientists has started coming true."

  1. Here is a link to a map of rising sea levels:

3mm/year is about an inch per decade, which would not inundate low areas that quickly.

  2. I guess Sports Illistrated doesn't think figure skating has any good looking atheletes in the sport.

  3. I am so depressed. I'm completely numb. Islands are now disappearing and still people claim global warming isn't happening. My family kept saying how great it is that it isn't cold and snowing this Christmas in NY, I simply stated it was sad. Of course, being older and Republican they rebuffed that they have had warm winters as kids and this isn't unusual. I kept shaking my head at such ignorant statements. I'm honestly scared sh*&less...

  4. ANON, while your facts are misguided, an inch a decade is still an inch too much...

  5. As if the weird, unseasonable temperatures weren't enough of a holiday mood killer, James Brown died Christmas day. At least he won't endure temperatures of 110 in April a few years from now.

  7. Carbon dioxide levels are rising and global warming may be happening because of that, but that island did not disappear because of it.

Such silly, hysterical reports only serve to dissuade reasonable people from listening any further to claims of global catastrophe.

All of the environmental problems we face have one major cause, overpopulation. And that's one thing you can't blame the gay community for.

  8. Jesse Palmer is dreamalicious!

  9. The student turned away because he is gay is hardly surprsing. Many sperm banks will not allow gay men to be anonymous donors.

  10. Do I believe in global warming? Yes. Do I think we contribute to it? Yes, but I think some of it has to do with the natural warming trend. It is so hard to predict climate. Factors that influence climate are volcanism, position of the continents, Milankovitch cycles (variations in the Earth's Orbit), variations in the sun's energy output, and atmospheric changes. We can barely predict the weather out 2 weeks. What makes us think we can predict climate a decade down the road? We need to definitely cut emmisions and reduce any pollutants as this only makes sense for the health of our planet, but I think saying this island sinking was caused by global warming is being a bit hysterical.

  11. Oddly they picked very unflattering pictures of some of these guys. Beckham's pic is not his best, and Leinart looks like he just got out of bed on laundry day. Who is Jose Theodore? I think I have to start watching hockey.

  12. Fossil fuels and overpopulation are only side effects. The true culprit in our inevitable extinction is apathy.

  13. Posting a Top 20 list of the best looking athletes is just asking for trouble.

#19 is way hotter than #1 but that's just my opinion :)

  14. Global warming...yep
Caused by humans...not really, but they do contribute. Making a natural cycle a bit worse.

Island all need to learn to investigate your stories...that island sank 22 years ago. Stop printing something as truth just because you want it to be, or it's from one of your lefty sites as this one is.

Even if you don't believe the planet is heating up, you should still do all you can to stop polluting the air and the land and the seas. Hot or cold, we still have to live on this old planet.

  15. All those hot athletes are the major cause of global warming.

  16. Re turning away the gay guy, I can understand that for sperm banks, assuming HIV risk is what they're concerned about. But blood banks? My understanding is that blood is not collected just for transfusion, but for research purposes as well. If the guy's honest about having sex with men, why can't they accept his donation, mark it "not for transfusion" or some such, and let the poor dude feel he's done his duty as a responsible citizen?
