Ss1_3

The Scissor Sisters will make their daytime TV debut in February, on two episodes of the soap Passions airing February 8 and 9.

Kevin Tachman, the group's photographer, sent in these shots and provided this synopsis of the storyline:

"In this two-episode arc, young witch Endora (Nicole Cox), a big fan of Scissor Sisters, conjures them up in Tabitha’s (Juliet Mills) living room. The band, extremely disoriented, plays their first song and then suddenly disappears into thin air, leaving Endora wanting more. After Endora is put to bed, she decides she wants an encore. This time she makes them appear at the hottest club in Harmony, The Blue Note, where she is dressed as a Scissor Sister groupie. Realizing they are no longer at their concert, the band is once again confused, but decide to keep on playing for the excited crowd."

  1. This isn't camp. This is something so far beyond camp it needs its own name.

    Maybe Uber-Camp?

  2. NBC's Passions....

While 2 weeks ago on NBC's HEROES, they had a Scissor Sisters' song playing at a party.

Not complaining, but obviously the same parent company that owns NBC also Owns the Scissor Sisters' contract. More power to them, I like the scissor sisters. I dislike the idea though of giant multi-national corporations pimping their other products via their media outlets yet not poitning out that their is a bias. A prime example was when Mission Impossible 3 during its first week made less money than expected...every entertainment news source said so except ET. ET said it had done great, turned out that Paramount which owned MI3 also owned ET.

Anyway; Hooray for the Scissor Sisters.

  5. I just got a Thompson Twins "Greatest Hits" CD (they were hot during the 80s) and their lead singer and Jake Shears could have been separated at birth! Good genes!

  6. They are like warmed-over Elton John...blech!...having said that, the guy in the suspenders with the high-waisted pants is HOT!

  7. Wow, so this is what I'm missing by having a job! I love Scissor Sisters but that plot line was really--well, dumb.

I think (as stupid as this plotline is) there is a difference between using music in the background of a show or having a group guest star on a show (remember the Brady Bunch Davy Jones or the Facts of Life Stacy Q episode) and supposed "entertainment news" shows cherry picking information.

Still, I might record this episode just for the Sisters.

  9. And Daniel, you continue to crack me up with your obscure pop culture references... I may be the only other Towleroader who knows who "the very special episode" Stacy Q is.

  10. I love that episode Mark M, with both Stacie and Tootie auditioning for a Broadway show with the same song--I cried.

  11. This is so fucking gay. I mean that in a totally post-queer-nation homo positive way.

  12. Actually, Jimmyboyo, NBC does NOT Universal Music Group. A french company called Vivendi does. Heroes and Passions were just a coincidence in timing.

  13. I am embarrassed for them. Could this be any more desperate?
