Comet McNaught Makes an Appearance

For you skygazers, there's a bright comet visible until January 12th in the northern hemisphere, near the horizon just before sunset. Comet McNaught was discovered in August of last year by R.H. McNaught in Australia. this is a shot taken by Flickr user Oolong over Edinburgh, Scotland last night.
Many ancient cultures associated the appearance of comets as a message from the gods or as harbingers of change. What might McNaught be trying to tell us?

"I can't see and I can't breathe due to all the crap you humans pump into your atmosphere. You had better wise up fast".

I think the comet is telling mankind to wise up and stop looking to supernatural forces and mystical signs for guidance. Science, represent!
