Reichen Lehmkuhl to Join Cast of Dante's Cove
Here! Networks has reportedly announced that Reichen Lehmkuhl will be joining the cast of their gay supernatural soap Dante's Cove.
According to the network, "On the show, Lehmkuhl will play Trevor, a business school graduate who comes to Dante's Cove looking to find himself. While there he becomes quickly intertwined with the beautiful men and enigmatic forces crawling all over the island. His close association with the immortal witch Grace (Tracy Scoggins) draws Trevor into a magical world and a dark battle he never could have imagined."
Said Here! exec Meredith Kadlec: "He is the perfect triple threat for 'Dante's Cove' -- he has a loyal fan base, he is proudly out, and he is simply gorgeous."
Last month it was announced that former model Jenny Shimizu would be joining the cast as well.

The fact that the "triple threat" didn't include TALENT isn't exactly awe-inspiring. That sounds like such a cheesy show - it shouldn't be so hard to make entertaining glbt programming. Heck, I've even watched some of it before!

I couldn’t agree more with the comment from "Peterparker". I've never seen the show but now I'm certain I'll avoid any possibility of watching the now doomed program. Reichen is such a "looks like Tarzan talks like Jane" girly man. I'm a gay man who likes men, not queenly men.

He should truly add a lot to that show. I caught a few episodes of the first season on DVD and yawned most of the way through it. Another prize-winning gay production!

I've watched Dante's Cove and, while the men are certainly beautiful and the sex is plentiful, it's oddly not at all arousing. I can't quite figure out why (not that I've devoted any time to thinking about it).

Lorne is SO dead-on right. How come we can't create really good shows (or, for that matter, movies) about ourselves? Sure, there are a few exceptions--shows where the focus isn't exclusively on gays, like Six Feet Under. But most of it is crap, like Dante's Cove and the American and excreable version of Queer as Folk.

And I have to give credit to the Here! producers for this stroke of casting genius, cause it's def going to up the profile of their show. Can't wait to catch Reichen's debut as an actor.

Yes. Every "straight" film is fucking stellar. There is a long list of brilliant gay films. Jesus Fuck, the venomous snake pit filled with you sorry bitter queens. Dante's is what it is... a soap. Let's face it, Reichen isn't an actor, but his (hot) ass is a visible gay man who is an all around nice guy. He isn't reading what you have on, giving you a make-over, "suffering" for your entertainment, or blogging hate all day long - he's being pretty and nice while supporting our community. Everytime a multitude of flames start crackling around Reichen someone jumps in and starts dissing his critics. Usually it's just "jealous" or "haters" but we hit the jackpot today as "venomous snake(s)....bitter queens... haters....miserable....and fat ....and fucking fucks." What I don't get is why none of them seem to ever ask themselves WHY he's so disliked. Why they don't wonder why no other gay celebrity or hot man mentioned here provokes the same degree of negative response. And it's not just here but on places like Datalounge.

I feel so horrible for saying this, because, while I don't hate the show, I do think Reichen is a repulsive, social-climbing user who threw over a beautiful, sensible, husband to be able to whore himself out. BUT...if Dante's Cove gets him more naked, more often (beyond that coy calendar pose), God help me, I'll watch. I'm soooooooooooo sorry, my community!
