  1. I can aleady see the stalkery roster of comments now that are gonna get posted here....

  2. I like Jake a lot but I'm getting tired of hearing about him and even (gasp) seeing his face. Is he getting overexposed, or is it just me? Oh well at least this item isn't another one about Beckham.

  3. Yes phil

    very overexposed

    Posted by: Jimmyboyo | Sep 24, 2007 8:39:02 AM

  4. Phil,

I hate to write it, but (double gasp) I think I'm starting to feel the same way! But I do really like these pictures. Sigh....

  5. Ugh, yes - overexposed.

These contrived shots of outdoor activities are lame, too.

    Posted by: Warren | Sep 24, 2007 8:51:50 AM

  6. How is Jake overexposed? This is one interview about his upcoming movie. He was in Toronto for the film festival for his movie. So Andy posted a picture of him at the US Open. Is he supposed to hide and not go anywhere or do anything? He isn't on TV or on every magazine cover. Whatever, I will haoppily take "overexposed" Jake in these pictures. I also look forward to the interview with David Fincher that is in the mag.

  7. Overexposed? Yeah, a little.

    Tiresome? No.

    Super super hot? Yeah.

Nice thing to see first thing on a Monday?

    You betcha.

  8. ^^ should be "happily"

    Posted by: What | Sep 24, 2007 9:06:39 AM

  9. Jesus Christ guys... you can't be serious? Getting tired of seeing Jake's face? Over-exposed! Yeah, right!! If Jake were ever to "expose" himself, you guys would be drooling at the bit to get even a small piece of his ass! He's just a totally hot guy. Period. Look, I guarantee you if you get some beers into Gyllenhall he'll let you blow him, are more! (Personally I'd love to rim his from now til Kingdom come...)... Let's keep some perspective here, guys! And while I know it's not ALL ABOUT SEX... let's face it some more... THIS DUDE IS SO SENSUAL AND SEXY... well, it's hard not to think of the sex.

Posted by: Dan Cobb | Sep 24, 2007 9:11:28 AM

  10. And one more thing... Jake is going to be a REALLY hot older guy too... this dude is going to be sexy well into his 60's... so I'm just giving you guys the heads-up.
[Man, would I ever LOVE to blow him! ]

Posted by: Dan Cobb | Sep 24, 2007 9:20:11 AM

  11. Um, when was the last time Jake did a magazine cover? Last year and it was on one magazine. And when was he interviewed by director David Fincher? Never. So I don't consider this overexposed at all. Thanks Andy for these pics and I look forward to the David Fincher/JG interview.

    Posted by: TS | Sep 24, 2007 9:24:34 AM

  12. Hahahah...see my originally comment.
Thanks for totally creeping us out Dan Cobb

  13. Watched Brokeback Mountain again last night. Love him. He and the film were robbed at the Oscars.

    Posted by: secretagentman | Sep 24, 2007 9:34:47 AM

  14. Overexposed as in everytime the dude farts he gets his pic plastered across the internet.

    Posted by: Jimmyboyo | Sep 24, 2007 9:36:24 AM

  15. HOT! DAMN!

    Posted by: Allen | Sep 24, 2007 9:46:18 AM

  16. Jimmyboyo, but that isn't his fault. It's not like he does things like coming out of clubs drunk ,etc. He goes about his life like anyone else. He is only "overexposed" if you read gossip sites. So I don't get the bitchiness about him in this thread. His press is only when he has to promote a movie like he is doing now for "Rendition". Can't help that the internet is obsessed with everything celebs do.

  17. I loves me some Jake too. Perhaps he's not over-exposed anywhere but here... not that I'M complaining.

    Posted by: BusyTimmy | Sep 24, 2007 9:49:49 AM

  18. I'm way in the minority here, but I've never seen Jake as THE HOTTEST MAN IN THE WORLD like so many do, he's ok, but there are better looking guys out there, IMO.

    Posted by: Ron | Sep 24, 2007 10:07:22 AM

  19. I'm way in the minority here, but I've never seen Jake as THE HOTTEST MAN IN THE WORLD like so many do, he's ok, but there are better looking guys out there, IMO.

  20. Guys dont freak out at the overexposed comments. They are just acting out page 125 of the Guide to Being Gay Handbook: "Wait till a goodlooking, talented celebrity's popularity becomes predictable, then start tearing him down."

After all, it's passe to be attracted to Jake. It's so much more exciting to be the guy who is SOOOOO over him.

    Posted by: mark m | Sep 24, 2007 10:17:33 AM

  21. Okay, Jake just made up for a calendar year with ZERO shirtless shots by giving us some pit.

    Posted by: jeff | Sep 24, 2007 10:21:38 AM

  22. I wouldn't call it overexposed but perhaps, orange-exposed.
This is either the worst photo scan I have ever seen, or Jake went batshit crazy with some self tanner. I've loved him since "October Sky" and will love him until they film the Brokeback prequel: "Escape From Tight Fitting Bluejeans Mountain." And P.S. ladies stop fighting over Jake, you're all beautiful, like a rainbow. And Jake is the orange stripe.

  23. thank you, Mark M,

it seems there always has to be some tragically, hip queer being so-over this or that, as if being blase' is a virtue. in truth, it is simply tiresome.

jake is a handsome, sexy, friend of gays. period. i don't mind seeing pix of him anytime, even if my saying so makes me sound "stalkery". (is that even a word?)

    Posted by: nic | Sep 24, 2007 10:47:22 AM

  24. Wow - we never get to see Jake here on Towleroad! Haha.
Can an argument be made that this guy is even that talented? I can think of 2 - possibly 3 - films where his performances were adequate, and that includes his Oscar nominated role in Brokeback, a solid, if somewhat creepy, acting job in a well made, but wildly overpraised film (gay guilt by mainstream critics), Fincher's 'Zodiac' and maybe 'Donnie Darko' (Jake's character, let's face it, could have been portrayed by anyone).
Andy - he needs to ditch his management pronto and hire you full-time! There's no greater promotion for him than your site!

    Posted by: jeffreychrist | Sep 24, 2007 11:59:17 AM

  25. I don't think it has anything to do with a 'hip queer' stance... Some people just find Gyllenhaal unattractive and/or untalented.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's different strokes for different folks out here in the real world.

    Posted by: Kyle | Sep 24, 2007 12:41:41 PM

  26. mark M

    LOL

    Exactly.

    Got to stay hip :-)

    (snark)

  27. He just doesn't know how to pose for these types of photos. His spontaneous shots are much better. He's also approaching the age of 30 or so, when gay men under 24 will no longer find him attractive and say that he's "overexposed", etc.

    Posted by: anon (gmail.com) | Sep 24, 2007 1:00:58 PM

  28. What's with the bitterness here? You don't have to love or even like Jake, but what has he done to get some of the hatred? So what if some of us like him? The mature thing to do would be to pass the post on and go on to something or someone you do like.

I like these photos and I love Jake. Thanks, Andy!

    Posted by: Meme | Sep 24, 2007 1:25:48 PM

  29. I also think he is a very talented actor. Looking forward to "Rendition."

    Posted by: Meme | Sep 24, 2007 1:27:49 PM

  30. meme

We would, but there are those at the gate checking our gay credentials and insisting we must adore the current straight boy lovefest fad or we are not properly gay.

    Posted by: Jimmyboyo | Sep 24, 2007 1:41:09 PM

  31. Remember, it's 'hip' to fawn and dote over Jake these days. Any criticism of the overblown lovefest will get your gay license revoked!

    Posted by: Paul | Sep 24, 2007 2:34:38 PM

  32. Sorry, but I have a problem with this non-stop hyping for a man who -- on camera-- gave his tacit support for torture as a means to gain information. Don't care how cute he is or is not. Don't care about his role in "Brokeback Mountain." I would be happy if I NEVER saw anything more about Mr. Gyllenhaal, after his comment on CNN.

    Posted by: jemmytee | Sep 24, 2007 2:43:30 PM

  33. I'm mostly indifferent to Jake Gyllenhaal. Is he cute? Sort of...in that goofy dog sort of way. Is he a great actor? He's getting there.

But I will say that I found him to be quite cowardly during the promotion of the film Brokeback Mountain. I feel the same way about Heath Ledger. Everytime those two would appear on a talk show or in print they managed to talk about everything BUT the gay element of the film. It was also rather off-putting to watch them squirm when the same-sex angle of the movie was finally discussed.

I didn't like the film -- it was like watching softcore porn with two uninterested participants. Yawn. Plus, the complete white washing of all the primary latino characters from the book is an insult. Namely Ennis Del Mar.

    Anyway.

Is Jake a friend to the gay community? Perhaps...but he has his fingers crossed behind his back. Of course none of this matters because delusions of getting a straight man drunk and molesting him tends to cloud one's judgement.

    Posted by: STEVEN W | Sep 24, 2007 2:49:38 PM

  34. All I can say is he might be cute and all, but PLEASE GOD, trim those eyebrows a bit, they are killing me!

    Posted by: Jordan | Sep 24, 2007 4:00:03 PM

  35. Thanks Andy for making me smile :)

    Posted by: Travis | Sep 24, 2007 4:05:52 PM

  36. i could not disagree more with 'jordan'. there's nothing worse than a guy with plucked eyebrows, followed by a lack of pubic hair.. shaved balls, fine.. but THAT'S IT ! i want a man, not some feminized fop.
p.s. jake is pretty dreamy. he can over-expose himself to me anytime !

Posted by: el polacko | Sep 24, 2007 6:32:18 PM

  37. I love Jake and his bushy brows!! There's nothing creepier than girly-eyebrows on a man's face.

    Posted by: Ray | Sep 24, 2007 7:26:11 PM

  38. I can not get enough of Jake, and am happy when I see him on this site...thanks

Posted by: Jerome Shipanik | Sep 24, 2007 7:36:15 PM

  39. i like Jake ALOT, so what if he's overexposed and hyped to the Nth (Zodiak sucked!)...
BUT those are terrible photos, he looks like k.d. lang !!

    Posted by: A.J | Sep 24, 2007 8:25:01 PM

  40. I'm not trying to be "cool" by saying Jake doesn't interest me, it's just a fact. Do we all have to be in lockstep when it comes to being attracted this guy?

    Posted by: Ron | Sep 24, 2007 8:47:18 PM

  41. I like Jake. He sometimes says dumb things. So do I. I don;t think he is being overexposed. He has a movie coming out, that's why we are seeing more of him. Of course, I'm on the same page as Dan. ;)

Steven W, what makes you think Ennis Del Mar was a Latino in the short story?

    Posted by: tjwdraws | Sep 24, 2007 9:01:23 PM

  42. Steven W said: "the complete white washing of all the primary latino characters from the book is an insult." What book? Are you talking about Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx? I've read the SHORT STORY (not a book) at least seven times. Can you tell me where in the hell a Latino is in there? Please?
Jesus, jump off your fucking soapbox. This isn't even about BBM, it's a post about Jake Gyllenhaal, the fucking hottest man, gay or straight, on the planet. Take your issues somewhere else. Leave it to someone with a stick up their ass and an axe to grind to mar a perfectly good day.

  43. Dear god he's adorable.

  44. I love that post about "hunks" and "dreamy guys" bring about hundreds of heated comments and the posts about gay bashings and gay political concerns get, oh, like 6 comments.
