Cristiano Ronaldo: Me Look Pretty One Day

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo showed up to a signing for his new book Moments trying to cover up a black eye and a forehead gash sustained during a match on Tuesday.

At least his ego wasn't bruised. He told reporters gathered there: "It's not a problem. In four or five days I will be beautiful once again."

Ronaldo was elbowed in a collision with Mirko Vucinic of Roma:

Said Ronaldo of the injury: "I don't think it was intentional. I don't like to look like this but this kind of thing can happen in football."

  15. INCORRECT, NIC, my friend...Portuguese people speak Portuguese. Latino, by definition, is in reference MOSTLY to Latin-American peoples who are Spanish speakers and of Spanish descent, however, Spanish, as a language, is the default defining characteristic. If you ask someone from Venezuela or some other Spanish-speaking Latin-American countries however, not all will agree or identify themselves as Latino and see it more as a defining characteristic of a culture. ;)

  16. Fizziekruntnt, my friend,

oh no you di'int. i know you di'int. lol.

technically speaking and by definition, a latino is any member of a group which derives it's language from the latinate model. that includes all speakers of the romance languages, which encompass italians, the french, the spanish, the portuguese and all the latin american countries south of the u.s. border (and, actually, within the u.s. borders) and elsewhere in the world.

how individuals define themselves in venezuela or wherever makes no never-mind. that is a personal decision. latino, however, is inborn. and, i cannot imagine why anyone would repudiate their latin roots. we are a beautiful people.

  17. ROFLMAO. Thanks NIC. Oh yes I di'd! *insert chicken neck sway*

I agree, Latin IS beautiful, but ask any Italian if they identify as Latino. Go ahead. Dare ya. CALL ME PAPI! Ain't nobody repudiatin' nothin'. ;)

Thanks for my Friday morning giggle. I needed that...xoxo

  18. Actually, Italy Italian (as opposed to Brooklyn Italian) people do identify as having that "latin" blood. While I was living in Italy they told me it was what made them so passionate.

  19. Che cazzo fai?

    Yes, Abseits ;) Latin...not Latin-O. Uffa!

  20. One thing's sure, he is not Iberian. He's from Madeira island, that's Africa already ;)

  21. Again, Portuguese are not Latino.

    Posted by: jmg | Oct 8, 2007 12:36:31 AM

  22. Latin when referring to guys can mean Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish or Spanish-American. It simply means that the language they speak is primarily rooted in Latin. English is primarily rooted in Anglo-Saxon. The English would refer to afore-mentioned groups as "Latins". Now, it primarily refers to Spanish-Americans.
