Desperate Housewives' New Gay Couple Erects Fountain Art

Last week, the new gay couple (played by Tuc Watkins and Kevin Rahm) arrived on Wisteria Lane. This week they put up an expensive fountain in the yard and set off a debate about personal freedoms. Here are a couple of the clips.

  1. The character of Lee, one of the gay guys in this DH couple, is a real asshole. Maybe, it's because the actor playing him grew up Mormon.

  2. He's pretty bitchy alright.

    Tuc is way hotter!

  3. After roasting the show's Repug fag creator Marc Cherry repeatedly, and still wary of what he'll have the couple doing going forward, I have no problem with these two so far. One is more quickly caustic than the other, but I'll take his "I'm not putting up with anyone's for a second" assertiveness over all the castrati "real" gay minstrel acts TV prefers, e.g, Jay Leno's Resident Dickless Flaming Fag "Ross the Intern."

  4. Make that "his 'I'm not putting up with anyone's bull for a second' assertiveness"

And "bitchy" isn't the right word, play on words or not. But thanks for reminding us that all that matters is that one of them is hot.

  5. I think the two guys are fine...they balance each other perfectly. that fountain was an eyesore though. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but that thing was awful.

  6. Leland, that's because "Have a nice day, Philistines" sounds exactly like something you'd say. ;)

  7. The two are strangely cuteness inconsistent, but I like them so far. I do find it a little interesting that one is clearly the "housewife" of the two.

  8. So far I dislike the characters. I am glad that they are not the stereotypical pushover queenie types, but I'd still prefer them to be nice. The blondish guy is just a jerk. I wouldn't want to live next to them either. Hopefully the characters will evolve to be nice people and not demons. Also, the Dolce suit thing the week before was a tad bit cliche'

  9. I've seen Kevin Rahm in a few plays here in LA--he's an excellent actor.

While I don't neccessarily "like" the characters I'm glad they stood up to the Dana Delany character. Even if they're not "nice" they've got balls.

  10. Yeah, I can't stand the Lee character (Kevin). He is way too bitchy for me (and rodent-looking). I could so see myself getting into a huge catfight with that one.

    Tuc, however, is a hottie. I can see myself doing something quite different with him ;

  11. Marc Cherry is a Republican?

  12. Tuc Watkins is gorgeous- when he was on One Life to Live, they had him in small swin trunks all the time for the flimsiest reason. But it kept me tuning in. Turns out that he has tons of charisma and comic timing to go with that hot body.

Lee is bitchy at least in part because he didn't want to move to suburbia. I think the implication is clear that Lee is the house husband and Tuc makes the money-- and when the earnings ratio is out of balance, and the rich one delivers an ultimatum, you either move with the money maker or you move out. Who wouldn't be a little bitter about that?
I think it would be a nice way to show that gay marriages have a lot of the same problems that hetero ones do. People want different things, and when there is no good compromise, financial reality often wins.

But then, I might be cutting Lee too much slack because in real life, I'm Lee (only a lot less rude to my straight, stand-offish, much wealthier neighbors whose only attempt to welcome the gays to the neighborhood was to leave a note on the recycle bin complaining about where we placed it by the curb on pick up day).
I don't like living in the burbs, don't like having a big yard to take care of, don't like living near a bunch of Gladys Kravitzes who don't work and have infinite amounts of time to obsess about the new fence that the neighbors put up... but one of us had to compromise.

  13. If Tuc was raised Mormon, that comes as a surprise to me, I got to meet the gorgeous hunk a few years back, and if he had Mormon leanings, hey've long been squelched. (I've read he was a Mormon on some other board, not bad since we were both drinking coffee, but those same boards also claimed he's been in a 40 year relationship, not bad, considering he just turned 41 a few months back.) But I do hope they use them more... buzz is that a sex tape of one of them (oh please let it be Tuc) is supposed to pop up on an upcoming episode... Tuc's character Bob did refer to an "earlier lover".
