Pat Boone Helms Homophobic Robo-calls in Kentucky Governor Race

Patboone

The gubernatorial race in Kentucky between Ernie Fletcher and Steve Beshear is heading into its final days. Beshear has a double-digit lead in the polls and it appears the state GOP is pulling out its biggest fear tactic in the eleventh hour — gays. They've paid for two robo-calls voiced by Christian warbler Pat Boone to go out to voters in the state warning them about Beshear's positions on gay rights.

KentuckygovsThe first ad warns: "His opponent is so ultra-liberal he’s just been enthusiastically endorsed by C-FAIR, a prominent gay rights advocacy group. They’re convinced Beshear is their guy. Now you have to ask, 'Do you really want Kentucky to become another San Francisco?' Please re-elect Ernie Fletcher."

And here's what the second, longer spot has to say:

"Hello friends. This is Pat Boone - a fellow Kentuckian by descent from granddaddy Dan'l. I've always been proud of Kentucky's stance on patriotic, military and moral issues - a great heritage. Now, as an American and a Christian I'm very concerned about the upcoming governor's election. Ernie Fletcher is a typical Kentuckian. He's worked long and hard for the state, its people, and its traditions. And of course he's come under attack by political opponents. And now, he faces a man who wants his job, who has consistently supported every homosexual cause - same-sex marriage, gay adoption, special rights to gay, lesbian, bisexual even transgender individuals. The prominent gay advocacy group CFAIR just enthusiastically endorsed Beshear, knowing he's their guy. Kentuckians have already voted to amend the state constitution to prohibit same-sex marriage. Now, do you want a governor who would like Kentucky to be another San Francisco? Please re-elect Ernie Fletcher. This message paid for by the Republican Party of Kentucky."

  2. With all the animal-fucking that goes on in Kentucky, I'd say it's far far worse than San Francisco.

  3. Who the hell is "granddaddy Dan'l" and why are Kentuckians supposedly descended from him?

  5. All right, Leland & David Erhenstein: fill us in on Pat Boone, the piece of shit. Y'all know as much about Hollywood history as American film historians. Y'all must have some dirt on Ms Boone, the bitch.

  6. On a side note thats a nice "leather daddy" outfit Mr. Boone is donning in the photo. I'm sure "granddaddy" would be proud.

  7. Davitydave's comment about animal-fucking in my home state of Kentucky is ignorant and offensive. Quit being such a douche.

"Grandaddy Dan'l" would be Daniel Boone.

  8. Pat who? I mean really, besides being just another ignorant bigot, does anyone actually give a shit what this has-been even thinks?

  9. I read quite a lot of gay press, and I've never heard of CFAIR. Either that or my memory is shot.

  10. Casey,

It was meant to be offensive to point out the equally offensive nature of Pat Boone's comments. It's called satire.

And, for the record, growing up in Indiana, I spent plenty of time in Kentucky and still have family there. Although, I do think they've stopped fucking animals.

    That is all!

  11. I'll take San Francisco any day over the inbred, ignorant, bigots of Kentucky. Yes, It's true that several religious hypocrites have been caught fucking farm animals after church. So, how bout the Kenfucky republican party go fuck off. How many more self hating gay republicans will get caught with their pants down in public toilets and parks.

  12. "...stopped fucking animals."

LOL, Lord have mercy, DAVITYDAVE, Lord, have mercy. But let's not forget all the good folks down south(white, black, gay, straight, Latino)--they're braver than we are. THey have to live amongst the Christian Fundamentlist animal fuckers.

OK, I'm having a "cum by ya" moment. So.

  13. Ya know what? Anyone stupid enough to believe those computer hysteria call crap isn't voting on the issues anyway - they're gonna vote republican because they're morons that don't think for themselves (same goes for the similar tactics the democrats use). Hopefully it will, however, turn off enough reasoned minds that receive that call - AND were going to vote - to vote for the opposition.

Whew, that was a lotta complex, compound, and dangling shit!!

  14. Kentucky, THE NEW SAN FRAN. That's gotta be ultraviolet on the color coded terror alert scale. As a homosexual, the thought scares me more than I think it should a right-wing bigot.

  15. i'm often the first one to criticize southerners for their antiquated notions, but in this case, please give the people of Kentucky the benefit of the doubt. if you have followed this race at all, it appears that the voters of KY will throw the incumbent Republican Fletcher out tomorrow -- Beshear is likely to win big time, and this gay-hating crap is not gonna work.

  18. Pat Boone didn't age too well. He used to be kinda hot lookin especially when he exposed his tiny dick through that box hole. What a prick.

  19. If you guys ever watch NCAA Basketball, you know Kentucky is the best. I've never heard of anyone fucking an animal unless he was a hot stud....:) My vote is for Beshear and I'd like to see a few rainbows in Frankfort.

  20. At first I was like "Who the hell is Pat Boone?". I had to google him, then ask several older friends if they thought this was for real...they all thought he was dead.

Is he serious with that faux-terminator look? If he's not gay, he's certainly confused, for sure!

Just what we need, another closeted Republican.

  21. As a resident of Kentucky, it has been sad and insulting to see what this indicted, Republican Governor grasp at straws in an effort not to lose by a landslide. Most Kentuckians are not inbred, ignorant, or bigots, and I have only met a few who fuck sheep. The Democrat, Beshear, will be elected by a record margin, and most Kentuckians are fully aware of his connection to the gay community in Kentucky.
By the way, our largest cities in Kentucky have comprehensive LGBT rights laws, and vibrant "gayborhoods" and communities. There are ignorant people everywhere...the comments on this post are a prime example.

  22. Andy...Andy....Andy. You say you're gonna spare us the EJ colonic...and then you splat that tackly little drag queen, Patty La Boone, at the top of the page.

Son...I see some punishment in your future. And, if you ever, ever do this again, we WILL tell!

    :)

  23. Oy. This is an act of sheer desperation. The latest polls have Fletcher behind by twenty points. Even if this does have an effect, it's not going to be enough to save this election for Fletcher. It's going to be a very, very lopsided victory for Beshear.

    Posted by: Gitai | Nov 5, 2007 10:07:33 PM

  24. Please do not stereotype Kentucky. Many people here are just as offended and outraged over this horrible and egregious tactic. Fletcher is losing, so he is willing to try anything. Beshear has much support across the state and his chances are definite at this point.

Louisville and Lexington are very progressive cities and do not represent any sort of bigoted, animal-frenzied hillbillies, which is actually an exaggerated myth.

  25. The photo was from the time Boone put out a Heavy Metal cover album (see Amazon.com...)

And to think Robert Goulet died this past week.
