First Look at New USS Enterprise?

Enterprise

According to some spy movie sites, Zachary Quinto will be First Officer of this spacecraft when the JJ Abrams movie arrives... It has already disappeared from a few sites. Can any Trekkies out there prove it's not?

  1. I guess it could be the real deal, since the enterprise of the 60's series was supposedly "refitted" at some point in the past. The rendering is too poor to appear on a movie screen, though.

  2. Nope! This is a fan made redesign that has been floating around on the net for about a year. However, it was designed by someone who works for the effects house Digital Domain so it would be easy to be fooled.

  3. Computer animation has nothing on the modeling that used to be used for ships in the star trek movies. Compare Star Trek II to the later films. All the ships look fake in the later series. I wish they would regress to models.

  4. Jason- Agree! At least the models were "real", so to speak. This model does not make any sense. I won't go any further than that here, though. I'll save it for the Trek fan forums ;-)

  5. Andy, you should be PC enough to know that we prefer to be called Trekkers, not Trekkies...

    j/k

(ashamed I didn't find the Buffalo News article you referenced in another post... I read that daily!)

  6. [paraphrasing] "These newfangled starships don't look like the real deal!"

    Droll, darlings, very droll.

  7. If you see how well Doug Trumball's models come up in the Blade Runner Final Cut, you'll appreciate how much they can offer over CGI.

  8. The boys at DoorQ have the skinny. It's not from the movie.

My brother in law is in the film and even he doesn't know what the ship will look like. Security is tight.
