Barack Obama the Hot Topic on The View

Barbara Walters hit on Barack Obama today on The View, telling the Democratic candidate he was "very sexy looking." They also touched on some other topics.

ViewobamaOn being a distant relative of Brad Pitt: "I guess we're ninth cousins something removed or something. I think he got the better-looking side of the gene pool."

On surviving the attack machine: "I'm skinny but I'm tough. I think the way to handle attacks, wherever they're coming from. And there have been some tough punches thrown in this Democratic primary. It's not like I've kind of been taking a cakewalk through this primary. The way I like to handle attacks is to answer honestly, swiftly, forcefully and truthfully. I think the truth is a powerful weapon."

On Jeremiah Wright: "Had the reverend not retired, and had he not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country, for all its flaws — then I wouldn't have felt comfortable staying there at the church."

  1. Hillary won't do the View...they'll eat her alive. It wouldn't be anything like this love fest. Barbara would go at her with claws out.

  2. He'll be the sexiest president since Ulysses S Grant! Skinny but tough.

  3. Did they ask him if he's hung? Does he like anal sex?

  4. "wouldn't have felt comfortable staying at the church." LMAO. He was plenty comfortable until the media found out about it and Hillary said she'd have left. Who's the liar now?

Walters and Matthews would get along swimmingly: http://www.gaywired.com/article.cfm?section=124&id=18587

  5. Let me make this clear.....I'm not a Hillary fan.

But Obama has shown how Clintonian he can be in parsing words again on national T.V.....the wonderful Rev. Wright has NEVER apologised for his sermons. What he did was when asked about them said....**of course they are inflammatory, thats why I say them**.....so all he acknowledged was the fact they were inflammatory....nothing more.

  6. It was very sad to see Hillary Clinton recycle rabid Republican talking points to attack a Democratic candidate. (Or more precisely, *the* Democratic candidate).

  7. *sigh*

Mike, please get your facts straight before chiming in. Hillary did The View just six months ago and she was hardly vilified.

  8. After seven years of listening to Bush's gibberish, it is a pleasure to listen to someone who is so well spoken.

  12. I don't know much about behavioral disorders or body language and I don't know if there has been any recent medical research that has been done in regards to this but I think his inability to hold eye contact, constantly looking at the floor, clearing his throat when Joy asked him about being "tough" means he is a liar liar pants on fire! President? ha

  13. OMG!

And I think that because he blinks while looking around, he likes puppies rather than kitties.

Then, if you take into account that when he was told he was attractive, by looking down it meant that he likes men.

*sigh* So sad how people love to seek more than the truth when it is being told. Guess having to deal with Bush/Cheaney the last 8 years has made a lot of us jaded & bitter.

Can we just agree that anything vs. McCain will be better this election?

  14. Thanks, Barack, for being honest, intelligent, and normal.

Please, please, America: make this man President!

Btw--here is a larger version of what you see on the news. Post 9/11 speech by Mr. Wright.

  17. I admire a politician who is determined to take the high road. That Barack is also polished, charming, articulate and intelligent combines to a very attractive package (no pun intended). After over seven years of GWB's hee-haw verbal approach, Barack is a breath of fresh air.

  18. Before snap judgments are made, can anyone produce the ENTIRE segment?

And Mike, the View DEFENDED Hillary's MLK comments, so what are you talking about?

  19. SOULBROTHA,

the can snap all they want to. Barack Obama will be the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party. Then, it will be up to Democrats whether they want to win this thing or not. It will be up to Hillary & Bill Clinton how they want to go down in history (and whether Hillary needs those votes out of New York City to win re-election to the US Senate). Do they want to be seen as good Democrats or selfish, power hungry fiends?

DAVE, do you know that there are many Americans who believe our government's 50 year history of bad Middle East foreign policy is what led to 9/11? Many, not just Reverend Wright. Maybe even George W the Idiot, Bill Clinton, Bush the First, Ronald(Black Death) Reagan, Jimmy Carter & Gerald Ford didn't like our Middle East Foreign Policy. But what could they do? Henry Kissinger had already decided that (back when we were scared of the Russians), and it has stuck even beyond 9/11.

  20. And, it was funny to see Whoopi cringed, grimace, roll her eyes and just about want to slap Bab's for giving Obama a compliment!

Preach on it Derrick, preach on it!

  21. Obama will never be President. The excuses and rationale he presents appeal only to the uneducated and weak minded. None of the comments posted so far mention the multiple new videos aired last night on CNN and Fox of black preachers around the country blasting Obama, one calling him "born trash." Another black preacher said that was mild compared to what is being said about Obama in black churches. He said he could not repeat what is actually being said on the air. Anyone with even average intelligence is onto the fact he is a liar and a fraud. But most importantly, the fact that Obama would sit and listen to Wright's sermons of hate for 20 years means that he most assuredly buys into it hook, line and sinker. Anyone who is truly forward thinking, as Obama likes to describe himself, would not listen to even five minutes of that ranting trash much less 20 years of it. And Obama's worthless militant wife sounds just like Wright. Obama can protest all he wants. The facts speak for themselves. More of Wright's insanity comes out each and everyday. Wright's latest rants include that "the Jews treat the Palistenians worse than Hitler treated the Jews" and "the garlic nose Italians were responsible for the Crusifiction of Jesus."

Anyone who sat and listened to this garbage for 20 years will not be elected to any public office much less President of the United States. It is beyond the point of being laughable. The fact that Obama is even still running is the joke.

Nadar has not even been factored into the equation as of yet. The polls show if Hillary is not the Democratic nominee, 19% of Democrats not voting in November and 22% of Hillary's supporters crossing party lines to McCain.

Anyone still drinking the Kool Aid is going to find themselves in a very small minority.

  22. Never count out a Clinton NEVER! Hillary '08!

    Posted by: daveynyc | Mar 28, 2008 1:26:52 PM

  23. Dear JOHNNY:

If any black preachers are angry at Barack Obama it's because he's reached out to white gay people too much for their backwards, socially conservative, Bible beatin', black asses.

Didn't expect that, did ya', Johnny?

Posted by: Derrick from Philly | Mar 28, 2008 1:31:37 PM

  24. Obama is a liar. Plain and simple. I love how if Hillary brings up the Wright issue, she's race baiting, but he's free to continue to SPIN SPIN SPIN it as if it is anything but him having protected and stayed close to an anti-American white hating bigot.

    Posted by: BANNE | Mar 28, 2008 1:48:07 PM

  25. It's odd to me that anyone with political ambitions would attend a church that could cost him votes. But remember, Obama would have left if Wright hadn't retired. He just wanted him to work out his final 20 years.

Johnny, no one is figuring Nader into the equation because he's a fucking idiot, and no one is the media is going to give him a soapbox this time around. Mike Gravel has a better chance of winning than Nader. No self-respecting Democrat would support Nader again. And his running mate is a former SF city council member who is way too liberal for most voters. He was even considered too liberal in SF, which is why he lost when he ran for mayor.
