Hillary Clinton Slammed for Statement Praising McCain over Obama

On Countdown last night, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow expressed exasperation over a statement made by Hillary Clinton in Fort Worth, Texas that praised Republican John McCain over her Democratic rival Barack Obama.

Said Clinton: "I think you'll be able to imagine many things Senator McCain will be able to say. He's never been the president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002."

Asked Olbermann: "Is it unfair to say that she just ranked Obama third on this topic behind the Republican that she and the Democrats are supposed to be blood-oath sworn to defeat?

Said Maddow: "That's what you say when you want to be John McCain's Vice Presidential choice. That's not what you say when you are trying to become the Democratic nominee for president."

  1. Is "blood-oats" a new product from Quaker Oats?

  2. The statement made by HRC would be unbelievable were it spoken by anyone other than HRC. Billary has a lifetime of experience lying, cheating, and smearing others. What a despicable and tawdry performance. Since she cannot manage her life, her marriage, or her campaign, she resorts to the politics of fear.

Every poll, however, shows her losing to McCain while Obama would win over him. The Repubs are going to vote heavily in favor of Billary today (because McCain is a lock) in the hopes that the Dems will nominate the weaker candidate. It is up to the superdelegates to exercise their political judgment and put her out of our misery.

  3. Clinton was saying that she and McCain both have greater experience, which makes her the better candidate to challenge him.

Maddow and Olbermann, while generally good commentators on other matters, have been in the tank for Obama for some time so their "exasperation" is fooling no one. In fact, same goes for any anti-Clinton, pro-Obama story on MSNBC since the bias of that entire network has been so blatant this primary season it's almost comical. They think throwing Dan Abrams on there late-night will absolve them of their journalistic offenses, but they're sorely mistaken. People will remember this season.

  4. LOL

    Kujhawker

    blod-oats, does a body good.

One must now start to wonder if Hillary is hell bent on making Obama a wounded candidate against McCain.

Is Hillary only looking to 2012 so she can run again?

Is she wlling to subject america to 4 more years of repub rule and supreme court apointments to fulfill her political goals?

Were the repubs right all along about her ambition being her sole motivator?

  5. Nuflux

    Maddow has been pro Hillary.

Maddow has constantly stood up for Hillary during her apperances on MSNBC.

Hillary appears to have just lost Maddow and probably ton ofother dems who supported her just the other day.

  6. PS

Olberman was fair and balanced till Hillary played the fear card.

Olberman's big thing is disgust for the fear card played by repubs and bush these past years. the moment Hillary played iti when olberman became an Obama supporter.

  7. What use is her experience if it doesn't help her avoid not making statements like that? Experience is a qualitative measure not quantitative as she seems to imply. Did Google have more experience than Yahoo and MS to end up the most used search engine?

  8. Canadian here so I can't really comment other than to mention that for better or worse, our destiny is very much entwined with yours, and obviously, how much we would like to see change.

This comment, if true, really speaks volumes. It sounds like desperation to me. Hillary knows this is her last chance and based on this it leads me to believe that her "experience" will lead to maintaining the status quo. Is that what the majority of Americans want?

Obamas "percieved" inexperience could be his biggest asset. It may be all smoke and mirrors but at least he appears to WANT change.

  10. Jimmy,

Maddow has never been pro-Hillary or even defended Hillary. Ever. Watch her post-debate, watch her on Abrams' show, or with Olbermann.

I don't know where you're getting that idea--did Barack tell you to say that?

  12. I was getting ready to praise Senator Clinton for her comments of "unity" on last night's "The Daily Show", then I scrolled down to the topic for this thread. WTF. Her behavior is bizarre. Maybe she's done too many TV appearances these last few days. Maybe PETERPARKER was on to something yesterday: maybe Jack Nicholson has had a terrible affect on her emotional state. Bad boys make girls go bad.

  13. Clinton and Mc Cain behavior could hurt foreign governments

Why clinton and Mc Cain are still saying that Obama's called the canadians, although Obama, the canadians and even her, have dinied it? Do they suggest that all these people are liying? where are the specifics? this should be considered as "top experience" in the foreign policy, i guess.

  14. Nuflux

You need to rewatch maddow's apperances after the debates.

Maddow constantly has gone all gaga over Hillary's performances.

  15. Hillary Clinton speaks the truth. Anyone who is paying attention and has a lick of common sense would know that. The truth about Obama is surfacing by the hour. He has an agenda. Obama will never be President, no matter how much his greasy haired wife wants him to be.

  16. Johny Lane

I wish we cold flag posts as abusive

    "greasy haired wife" ?

Is there a bit of racism in that comment of yours?

    Posted by: Jimmyboyo | Mar 4, 2008 9:41:58 AM

  17. Okay Johnny Lane, enlighten us. What is this truth about Obama, this agenda?

Seriously...I have no clue what you are talking about. I would hope that both Democrats have an agenda. CHANGE!!

    Posted by: Scott | Mar 4, 2008 9:42:54 AM

  18. Turn on the news Scott! If you have to ask me then you are not paying attention, just like the bulk of people who post their self absorbed rants here.

Posted by: Johnny Lane | Mar 4, 2008 9:50:23 AM

  19. Wow, that was helpful.

Self-absorbed?? Me thinks that would be the pot calling the kettle black. Oh wait...maybe THAT is your issue.

    Hmmmmm???

    Posted by: Scott | Mar 4, 2008 9:55:42 AM

  20. "...greasy haired wife."

Michele Obama graduated with cum laude honors from Princeton. She earned her law degree at Harvard. She is a former associate dean at Chicago University. This is all by the age of 44.

Johnny Lane, did you ever see a movie called "Paris Trout" with Dennis Hopper? You ought to rent it.

  21. I apologize for the typo. Yes, it's blood oath. Didn't mean to suggest there was a new politically-themed breakfast cereal.

  22. Begone, Racist Johnny Lane. No one here wants to read your bigoted bullshit.

  23. Okay, just for shits'n giggles I decided to search for JOHNNY LANE on this site. I suggest you try it yourself.

I certainly don't need to engage in this conversation anymore. Many more qualified people have done so already and I think his own words do a pretty good job of illustrating his own unique perspective. ;-)

  24. As much as I want to win my bet with Jimmy (which would require Obama to win), I'd rather have Clinton in the White House.

    Go Hill!

And btw, politics is dirty. Obama engaged in dirty politics too, so don't get your hopes up that new politics is going to be better. You know what they say, same shiet, different day.

  25. LANDIS, is your Prime Minister in with you on this bet with JIMMYBOYO?

That perfectly timed NAFTA leak sounds AWFULLY suspicious no matter what Mr. Harper might say. I think the NDP leader Layton is spot on in challenging Harper and his administration on this matter.
