Miss USA Upholds Metaphor for America's Current World Status

Miss USA Crystle Stewart took a spill at the Miss Universe pageant last night. It's the second year in a row the American entrant has taken a runway plunge. After she tripped, Stewart, who had made it to the Top 10, stood up and applauded herself.

  2. Don't laugh, TAMPADAVE, I've had many entrances into Fairmount park like that. Thank God it was after midnight.

...although I filled out my gown better than her.

  3. She's incredibly poised, even with the fall. Good for her!

  4. Luv that she applauded herself. How modest of her.

  5. I think by applauding herself she was saying "it's ok to laugh." I don't think it was a metaphor for anything other than "Oh shit, I can't even go home and face the Miss Texas pageant commitee!"
