Barack Obama Likes Dumbledore, But Offers Him His Privacy

Back in January, Obama got some attention when he revealed how much he loved HBO's The Wire, and that his favorite character was Omar:

Dumbledore"I gotta say Omar’s a great character. That’s not an endorsement. That is not an endorsement. He is not my favorite person. But he’s a fascinating character. He’s this gay gangster who only robs drug dealers, and then gives back. You know, he’s sort of a Robin Hood. And he’s the toughest, baddest guy on this show, but he’s gay, you know. And it’s really interesting. It’s a fascinating character."

Now, in a new interview about his kids, Obama reveals his fondness for another gay character, though this time around he's not so open to talking about the character's sexuality:

"His favorite Harry Potter character may be Dumbledore (he won’t comment when it’s mentioned that the headmaster of Hogwarts may be gay.)"

  1. Well, there you have it. All the proof i need. I'm voting obama now! maybe he can recall this interesting story to the Iranian president when they sit down for a (no pre-conditions) gab fest!

And to think Iran just sentenced 4 boys to death on the rumor of possible homosexual activities. (let's see if andy posts that story)

You like me. You really like me!

  2. Well, well, well, looks like Obama is another liberal hypocrite. He's OK with mentioning "gay" when he's pandering for votes in the primaries but, with the serious end of the campaign coming up, he's suddenly "gay shy". Pathetic to say the least.

I am fed up with these liberals. Not only do they have a bisexual double standard (girl-girl great, guy-guy gross) in their personal viewpoints, they're also sleazy and manipulative when trying to win the votes of gay and bi men. We are their "politically useful pity class", valued for our votes but reviled for simply kissing each other. You're not getting my vote, Obama, and neither is any other liberal or Democrat.

  3. How many people here realize that the DNC removed gay/lesbian/transgender rights from the Democratic Party platform this year. It happened this last weekend. Where is the outrage. This was all Donna Brazille and Obama's idea to get the church goers votes. Yes, especially the black churches that have been so resistent to allowing HIV outreach and education through their ministries.

  4. He hardly needs to comment - Rowling said Dumbledore was gay. End of story. God, how backwards are we that Obama feels he needs to deny something the author actually said?

  5. And the Republicans are just peachy-keen, right Jason?

  6. It's almost funny that someone would rather have a president who would veto every gay positive piece of legislation that came across his desk than vote for the guy who'd not block any of it because he supposedly says he will not comment on a fictional character's sexuality. It'd be funny if it weren't so ridiculous. Guess we had better hope we have well over 60 dems in the senate to over-ride McSame's vetoes.

  7. "...especially the black churches...."

Since when have black Democrats taken issue with anything in any Democratic Party platform?

    Hey, JASON,

The Republicans are going to propose full rights for bisexuals in their platform--but females only.

  8. Derrick,

The Republicans aren't going to grant full rights to all female bisexuals. Just to "hot bi babes."

  9. This is really sad. People are actually bitching because he didn't acknowledge a book character is gay? OMG! I have to vote for McCain now, that's just the most evil thing he could have done!

  10. Jason you think liberals are bad?? What about conservatives with a marriage amendment and general gay unfriendliness!!
They also cozy up to the Saudi's who arrest and murder gays, and they support a military who kicks us out! You need to wake up, this is not the time for gays to repeat Fox talking points! We are in deep Shit!

  11. Why is it when queens like Jason go off on these petulant rants the strongest image is of a spoiled little brat stamping her mary janes because she's not getting exactly what she wants?

I'm not happy with Obama's churchy take on gay rights, or with someone who is the product of miscegnation having such difficulty with marriage rights for people who aren't like him.

But the damage that McCain would do is immense and it's only the incredibly stupid and/or self-important who would do anything other than get as many people to vote for Obama as possible.

Oh, and Jason, he's only half negro. Maybe that would make it easier?

  12. Mark

uhm you do know that we the USA have now open comunication with Iran with no preconditions (well, not talking on our part, but we are sitting down listening to them with NO preconditions).

The repub bushco is also opening a consulate lite (a room in another countries consulate) in Tehran

Dude, get up to date with your rhetoric. The repubs have all ratified Obama's foreign policy on communication with Iran, and Iraqi 16 month withdrawal time table (even mccain says 16 months sounds good), that afganistan is our problem, etc

Shit fire repubs are slow. I figure the whole hard on for the 1950's does it to you guys
