Best gay blog. Towleroad Wins Award

08/23/2008

Off to the DNCC

Dncc3I'm not sure I'll have a weekly wrap-up this week as I'm preparing to leave shortly for the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Towleroad's Michael Goff and Kenneth Walsh from Kenneth in the 212 will be taking care of Towleroad's regular programming next week while I'm at the Convention. I'll be with our correspondent Corey Johnson and we hope to bring you images, reports, interviews, and whatever else we can. If you're going to be in Denver, we look forward to seeing you there.

  1. Say hi to Donohue.

  2. Did you see the piece on CNN with Obama's half brother living in Kenya in a rusty shack. Boy there's some family values, while the Obama bunch lives it up in their mansion. Maybe mama Oprah will send him a plane ticket to visit his little brother and they could have a family reunion on daytime TV!!!

  5. Better yet, ask Donohue, what's the difference between acne and a Catholic Priest?

Acne will usually not come on a kid's face until around 13 or 14 years of age.

  7. So where can I buy my t-shirt that says "When McCain left one of his 10 houses in a 9-car motorcade to get a capuccino at Starbucks yesterday, was he wearing his $520 shoes? And was his $273,000 a year butler with him?"

  9. Hillary would have guaranteed us the White House in November and I honestly think she WOULD HAVE picked Obama as a VP if she were the nominee.

    Obama has never liked Hillary..

And even though I hate politico I think it is true that the Obama camp never even considered Hillary as a VP option.

From his remarks about Clinton’s “claws” to his “sweetie” remarks...I think it shows the way this country still thinks of women in a leading role..

As Andy and numerous news stations have stated….the VP text came about 3:00AM..another hit at Hillary for her 3AM ad…

Please know that Hillary Clinton is indeed a friend to the GLBT community even though most don’t think so because of Bill’s policies…she is not Bill Clinton...

We need to beat McCain no matter what….and I will vote for Obama, we all should…

If anyone is in the Denver area let’s acknowledge the public service that Hillary has done…

The picture of her marching in the GAY PRIDE PARADE in NYC should be something nobody should forget…

    Visit http://18millionvoices.blogspot.com/

There are numerous events going on next week in Denver that will praise Hillary’s accomplishments. If you’re in the area stop by…

Also, please contribute to retire her debt..she would have fought for the GLBT there is no doubt in that..

  10. Andy, darling, while you are there, befriend a real, hard-core, crusty, in-you-face and honest to god journalist. Learn from it. Then come back and be the 1st Gay blogger that is also a true Journalist. You have it in you if you can just be open to it. Pave the way. We need pavers right now, not posers.

  11. Obame All the Way! Say Hi to Rufus and Cyndi Lauper for all of us!

  12. Andy, very happy you're going to cover the convention. You mean BillDo didn't get you banned? If anything, it will only raise your profile...have a great time with it!

DaveNYC, you're clearly not a ranting Hillary fanatic, and everything you say is correct: she IS a friend to our community, she is a good senator for New York (my state as well), and McCain must be defeated at all costs if you care anything for civil rights, particularly GLBT rights, and a sane future economically, internationally, and environmentally.

She probably would have chosen Obama as VP, and it would have been 100% right to do so, because it probably would have been an unbeatable ticket and aside from any unexplainable disaster, would have pretty much guaranteed 16 years of a Democratic White House. Early on, I preferred Obama on the basis (limited in its relevance as it may be, since he wasn't in the Senate) that he opposed the Iraq war while she voted for it. Still, I told everyone I knew, hey, I will gladly take a Clinton-Obama ticket. Trouble is, she acted like she owned the nomination before she earned it, found she had a genuine rival in Obama, and then proceeded to run a nasty campaign which she should have put a cork in much sooner, and therefore pretty much guaranteed that Obama would look like an ass to choose her as VP.

What remains to be seen is whether the Clintons can manage to put their own egos aside at the convention and unite the Democratic party to keep the eyes on the prize and kick the worst administration in modern times (which McCain will only extend) out to the curb and move on to a new era, during which the Clintons can only shine if they put their minds to it.

And with that being said, definitely looking forward to Andy's point of view from the convention!

  13. Andy, real proud to have you representin' us gay folk. Have a great time, and don't let Hillary destroy our last chance to take the White House!

  14. I won't be voting for the Democrats. The Democrats - and liberals in general - have a bisexual double standard. Girl-girl is considered hot, guy-guy is considered either gross or not hot. You see this viewpoint rippling through all the media organizations which support Democratic candidates - eg MTV, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Huffington Post etc etc. The bisexual double standard perfectly illustrates the dishonesty, sleaze and hypocrisy at the heart of Democrats and liberals in general.

The bisexual double standard is the defining hypocrisy of liberalism. It's a good starting toward understanding how liberals - including Democrats - operate.

  15. In my post just above, the last sentence should read:

It's a good starting point toward understanding how liberals - including Democrats - operate.

  16. Whatever, Jason.

Although I've disagreed with DAVEYNYC in the past re: Hillary Clinton I'm glad to see he's taking the same position many of us who support Obama would have had Hillary won the party nomination. We should not forget Hillary Clinton's support and should definitely contribute to help her retire her campaign debt. She's a great Senator for NY and will be a great President in the future.
