Rachel Maddow Gets Her Own Spot on MSNBC
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, who in recent days we've seen smack down her colleague Pat Buchanan over a made-up quote and hand him his own prejudice on a platter, has been given her own spot at the network, almost immediately replacing Dan Abrams in the 9pm hour following Keith Olbermann. There are quite a few other instances online of her fearlessness and we look forward to more of it.

August 1st, I said: "I liked when she filled in for Olbermann on his show while he was gone. I felt like it was a kind of trial for if she were to have her own MSNBC show, which I hope will be considered at some point."
The gay gods were listening!
I really think she'll do an excellent job. She has a lot of energy and charisma, is likable, and knows what she's talking about! I look forward to her show.
Wonder what'll happen with Abrams. I think his show ('The Verdict') was pretty new.

WES - according to the washingtonpost article:
Dan Abrams, the former MSNBC general manager who had been hosting "Verdict" at that hour, will continue as NBC's chief legal correspondent, become a "Dateline" contributor and serve as a daytime anchor for MSNBC.
This is his second how to be canceled this year, no?
He is a cutie though :-)

I ♥ Rachel Maddow

YES!!! She's been a wonderful guest host of "Countdown". She'll be fabulous!
I can't say the same for Dan Abrams, but the Verdict is in. I had a hard time stomaching his shows smarm. Too much of a self-inflating ego between him and "Contessa" and gratuitous back-patting. I needed insulin after tuning in for 5 minutes.

Well, there's another reason not to watch MSNBC. Olbermann is an douchebag blowhard, and Maddow gives some of the most insipid commentary on the channel.
Good for her for being out, but that is not enough for me to watch her be an idiot on live television.

This is so cool! Rachel ROCKS! They were talking about this on Olbermann last night. She's gonna keep her radio show too. They were saying that she's gonna be one of those who has a tv and a radio program, except she's going to do it right (Listen up Hannity, O'Reilly, Limpbaugh).
Abrams seems like a pretty intelligent guy, decent sense of humor. Pretty HOT too! >Insert raunchy fantasies of him and Anderson (Danderson!) HERE<
His show sucked though. It's like it was produced by the High School AV club.

Great news, and congrats to Rachel! I love her and look forward to her show; I hope she gets a good team--I have to agree with MikeinSanJose, Abrams' show was horribly produced--the only thing that kept me tuning in was his cuteness and intelligence factor.

She is really great -- sharp, quick, composed and with a sense of humor. It's just a pity she has to be so biased, or at least part of such a biased operation. Hopefully CNN will snatch her away soon.

MSNBC is like where the crickets go to chirp.

Good on her. A true credit to liberal, thinking brilliance. Hot!

Nick, I'm with you. With all the shrills on cable TV these days it only makes me appreciate the News Hour all the more.

Sorry, I won't be happy simply because she's a lesbian. MSNBC needed another Obamamite about as much as Fox needs to give Rush his own show.
I'll stick to CNN.

I love Rachel Maddow, but I must say I would have liked to see a Maddow-Buchanan "Crossfire" type show where the two of them spar with guests.
On the other hand, it will give me my liberal fix without having to watch the living, breathing Ego Of Olbermann, so maybe it'll work.
