The efforts of the media and tabloids to destroy this fine and accomplished public servant are a disgrace. The American people will reject it."

road.jpg Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson says it's time to get serious about Obama: "With John McCain, we will see the conservative near-majority on the Court shift to a solid majority – with devastating results when the 'full faith and credit clause' of the Constitution is challenged in the recognition of gay marriages. With Barack Obama, we have someone who is utterly sympathetic to our full and equal rights as citizens. I know, he won’t say he’s for equal marriage rights (neither did Hillary), but he still is the most LGBT-friendly president we will have ever had. I know from my own private conversations with him that he is totally in our court. I believe him, and I trust him, not to throw us under the bus when the election is over."

  1. the National Enquirer response is great

""The National Enquirer's coverage of a vicious war within Sarah Palin's extended family includes several newsworthy revelations, including the resulting incredible charge of an affair plus details of family strife when the Governor's daughter revealed her pregnancy. Following our John Edwards' exclusives, our political reporting has obviously proven to be more detail-oriented than the McCain campaign's vetting process. Despite the McCain camp's attempts to control press coverage they find unfavorable, The Enquirer will continue to pursue news on both sides of the political spectrum."

    The best part

"................Following our John Edwards' exclusives, our political reporting has obviously proven to be more detail-oriented than the McCain campaign's vetting process..........."

If true on the affair, expect the repubs to be HUGE hypocrites. The people who screached from here to eternity about "Dirty Dirty Dirty boy Bill Clinton...." (actual words of toe tapper larry craig) will screach that she is a xtian and jesus loves her and so should all of us.

The Enquirer has a great track record on winning law suits. With the Edwards thing being fresh in the minds of americans, the enquirer actually looks legitimate at the momentto middle america and makes a sarah palin adultery story even worse.

  2. And, they win lawsuits because the National Enquirer isn't the same NE it was when it was a libelous dishrag of a tabloid. Over the past 10 or so years, their track record has proven truthful time and time (and time) again.
The old “Michael Landon has AIDS/Carol Burnett is a drunk” days are over, and have been for years.

Ironic that I'm praising a paper that I've never even read! Not a single issue!

  3. Boy I miss JFK Jr, he had great hair. Loved his mag George.

  4. The image of Aunt Piper giving her nephew Trig a comb-over is just too cute for words.

Posted by: Baked Alaska | Sep 4, 2008 3:34:25 PM

  5. BAKED, that Sis Piper giving Trig a comb-over.

After Rupert Murdoch bought the Wall Street Journal, I have to say, the Inquirer is looking more and more legitimate.

I miss JFK, Jr. Beautiful photos in the set.

  6. RAD... don't believe everything you're told, esp if it's coming from Trig's grandma.

  7. "Piper Palin demonstrates the Alaskan spit shine."

Ok so let me ask, why is that appearing on a gay oriented, republican bashing blog? That is not news. It is not human interest. It is an innocent child holding her even more innocent brother. Do you think that either of those children know a damn thing about hate, or politics, or evil yet? They don't. Yet here it is lumped in with Andy's choice headlines for the day. You clearly put it up there to make this extended family seem like a bunch of backwoods people, but might I remind you Andy that you were once 5, you once did embarrassing things, and you didn't come out of your mother's womb the 43 year gay liberal Chelsea living, blog writing, spin doctoring, word twister that you are today.

  8. That poor baby should have been home in bed with a nurse to care for him. Instead he's paraded around as a prop. Rethuglicans love to do that with their kids -- and scream bloody murder when anyone questions their family about anything.

Posted by: David Ehrenstein | Sep 4, 2008 4:02:58 PM

  9. McCain couldn't know whether Palin had an affair. He certainly couldn't know that she didn't. He met with the woman once and talked to her once on the phone.

  11. ouch, JAKE, how do you really feel? I actually found that to be cute. Piper fixing Trig's hair was genuine and refreshing, in stark contrast to the forced hand-holding of Bristol and hockey hotness. I don't know, but my hope is that Andy posted it because it is adorable rather than he is trying to pick on a 5 year old.

and BAKED ALASKA, the timing just doesn't work out for Trig to be Bristol's child. You should give that a rest already.

  12. Is Michael Lucas trying to dress like Little Edie Bouvier? That is SO 2006...

    Posted by: Joe | Sep 4, 2008 4:23:55 PM

  13. Jake,

I think you are the only person who looked at that picture of Piper and saw it as an attack or as a mockery of her doing something "embarrassing".

I think everyone else sees it as cute.

  14. "I don't know, but my hope is that Andy posted it because it is adorable rather than he is trying to pick on a 5 year old."

Have you been reading a different blog for the last 6 months?...just curious. This blog trashes EVERYTHING republican...children of republicans, pets of republicans, homes of republicans, the way republicans hold microphones, the way republicans campaign logos look, and the list goes on and on...

This post was an attack and it's disgusting.

  15. RE: Gene Robinson

I wish ALL religious people would just focus on their sky gods and stay out of politics.

  16. Palin having an affair would certinly be par for the course with the Republicans. Someone should track down this guy and get his side of the story.

Also: Does anyone else find it ironic that a porn star now makes money WEARING clothes?

    Posted by: RainbowPhoenix | Sep 4, 2008 4:41:45 PM

  17. JAKE, yes, I have been reading this blog for years - and if you have i am sure that you have noticed in addition to some Republican bashing, Andy very frequently posts things that are simply nice to look at. Sometimes its a cool piece of photography, or a hot photo of Chad White or the latest DNA spread, or, in this case, a cute little girl fixing her little brother's hair for the TV cameras.

IN FACT: if you follow the link next to the comment, you will read the words "Watch the cute video below."

  18. - JAKE -

DAN B is right. If you've been reading this blog for the last 6 months and so much of what you see disgusts you, why do you keep coming back?

    Posted by: JP | Sep 4, 2008 5:13:12 PM

  19. I'm appalled that Republicans have cute children - it's nothing but a cynical ploy.

    Posted by: DD | Sep 4, 2008 5:17:02 PM

  20. Seriously, Jake, it's just a cute video. Nothing nefarious in linking to it. Maybe you need to relax...or read a different blog.

    Posted by: Paul R | Sep 4, 2008 5:22:34 PM

  21. Michael Lucas has a remarkable bod and huge dick--but if his outobio is indicative, he;s a huge bore. I'm surpirsed he's not ben tapped by the RNC to appear and support The Old Guy and Miss Trixie Palin. The Old Guy's hands-on with Levi Redneck seems to make this a plausible possibility.

Posted by: gregory brown | Sep 4, 2008 5:27:34 PM

  22. That video is almost as cute as Jake is utterly annoying.

    Posted by: Derek | Sep 4, 2008 6:29:49 PM

  23. Yes, Jake, we get the point that Obama like Palin also did the media song and dance routine with the kids and pets. Which political figure doesn't?

But note, Jake, that Palin did say in her speech that she would be the "friend and advocate" of moms with special-needs kids "all across the country." Can you say that that is unrelated to the fact that her special needs kid was present in the audience? Innocent child that doesn't know about politics yet? Yes, completely true. It's mommy who's scoring some major political points.

And damn, why the ad hominem attack on Andy? It's not like he advised Palin to bring the baby along, allude to it in her speech, and have the McCain campaign also pull a photo-op with her innocent teenage daughter and her innocent future hubby!

Posted by: Blue Dog | Sep 4, 2008 8:05:45 PM

  24. More important than the cuteness of a five year old with a baby, is the issue that our country's only legitimate newspaper is the National Inquirer. What does this say about the main stream press?

  25. Todays Palin scandal round up (averaging 3-4 a day)

    - Alaska State Police Union files ethics /criminal complaint against Palin. Claiming the release to the public of personal info from confidential personnel file of her ex brother-in-law. Criminal and abuse of power

    - Palin for a Road (as vs that bridge) to nowhere accepting $100 million in earmark money from DC

-Palin attended 5 different colleges in 6 yrs. Grades and disciplinary records can not be released to law, but probably due to both

-mccain camp so scared, not allowing her to ever do an interview. Scripted speeches are enough!

    ---------------------

Hillary Clinton campaigning on Monday in Florida for Obama/ Biden. :-) You know she is going to say something about the woman who is against everything she is.

    19331/04690/828/587016

Anecdotal, my mom a registered repub woman ;-( Voted bush both times and supported mccain is insulted, disgusted, and NOT voting repub due to Palin pick. "Mccain didn't vet her which is scary about how he makes decisions. Her scandals are too much like a bad soap opera. Her being 100% against abortion even in case of rape is too extreme." I now love my mom more today than I did yesterday.
