Michael Schiavo Takes Stand Against Florida's Amendment 2

Schiavo

Michael Schiavo, husband of the late Terri Schiavo (no doubt you remember Terri's drawn out, comatose, hospital stay in which a patient's "right to die" came under focus), has taken a stand against the radical right wing behind Florida's Amendment 2, which would amend the state's constitution to make marriage between a man and a woman.

  1. I would not want this evil man on my side for any reason.

  2. MARK, what makes you say he is evil?

  3. Great spot. Are there any pro-gay-marriage ads that feature GAY MEN?

  4. What was evil was the state's media-maniacal attempt to intervene in a difficult private decision based on the wishes of a woman in a permanent vegetative state, and the interpretation of those wishes by her husband, her family and the courts. None of us needed to be invited into what became an embarrassing spectacle. It was only made worse by the incredible degree of denial under which the family members operated.

  5. Why don't you ask Terri's parents and the nurses who were caring for her?

  6. I would hope that by now they've all snapped out of it, since they discovered the poor woman essentially had pudding between her ears.

And yes, great spot, albeit from a most unlikely source. Who's next, Jackie Chan?

  7. Because they are not credible?

  8. Good for him! I remember when this whole Terri Schiavo thing was going on - utterly disgraceful. A good ad, which exposes these wing nuts for what they are, hypocrites. They aren't happy unless everyone is doing what THEY want us to do or behave as they wish.

  9. Mark

The majority of america disagrees with you.

The majority of repubs disagree with you and helped elect dems 2006 in response to the crazy schiavo case.

  10. Her parents and nurses? Try Michael himself, who gave up his live and all his savings to put himself through nursing school so that he could care for her *himself*, which he did, every day. He's a good man.

  11. Some of you may wish to google Saint Michael and find out just what he has been up to since starving his wife to death.

    Posted by: Mark | Oct 15, 2008 7:16:49 PM

  12. I googled. What horrible thing was I supposed to find? If you're talking about the obviously biased and borderline insane michaelschiavo.org, I don't think there's much there that has any validity.

  13. Here and there I see some think Schiavo was wrong - and that the right was justified in their quest.

How ironic that we are trying to get marriage approval - but the right wingnuts are once again carrying their torch of hate.

And when we do get the right to marry - and when something happens to our mate - how happy are you going to be to see them standing on your lawn in protest?

Or maybe they'll just be praying you to be dead.

  14. Mark - your head is up your ass. What are you typing about? Do you live in Florida? Have you been paying attention? Are you a Troll or just a sick uninformed attention seeker?

Don't answer - or don't answer ME, I do not care. I live in Florida, I knew of this case before it became a political football, and I am typing this NOT to respond to a likely troll but simply to remind others what this case was about: A BRAIN DEAD woman, cared for by her legal husband, who ALL but a couple johnny-come-lately judges and a bevvy of selfish evil politicians had determined had her rightful interests looked after and the right to decide them, - This man KNOWS self-righteous hypocrisy firsthand.

And I thank him for his outspokenness on behalf of others' issues. I would say "our" issues but equality is EVERYONE's issue. Not just 'ours.'

  15. I think that there are "freepers" invading TOWLEROAD masquerading as gay men or women. I assume this is old news for many, but others are clearly deceived. "Mark" is obviously one such invader.

Mark makes alarmist statements: "I would not want this evil man on my side for any reason." He gives no rational arguments. His last post ("Here and there ...") makes absolutely no sense at all. I don't believe "Mark" is a gay man.

If Mark was the only one, I'd chalk it up to a troubled individual. I think this is a concerted effort, however small, to muddy the rhetorical waters.

  16. HaHa - JAMESR said it much better than I did:

"Mark - your head is up your [republican] ass."

    Thanks Jamesr!

  17. LOL - Thank you Dave.

I think some people here confuse this site with "Trolleroad."
