  1. Mazel Tov Melissa and Tammy Lynn! Now how about a sizeable donation to the fight to defeat Prop 8? Reading the comments in the cited article should give you (and all of us) a wake-up call that your right to marry is one that could be taken away. Please join us and do your financial part to fight for your rights while they still exist.

  2. They better hide baby Rupert from Sarah Palin. She may get a hankering for some Bambi-burgers

  3. I respect Ms. Etheridge immensely. Her having risked her career by coming out, her campaigning for many gay rights related issues, and her courageous fight against cancer culminating in her killer bald-but-beautiful performance of "Take Another Little Piece of My Heart" on the Grammys are awe-inspiring, both collectively and individually.

However, we need both the substance and the symbolism of financial donations by gay celebs such as she more than we need more pictures of already-known gay couples making it legal. Where is the kind of team major fundraiser/call to arms effort against Prop 8 that Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin headlined at the Hollywood Bowl in 1977 when Anita Bryant was just trying to take away the job protection of gays in one city.

Yes, it, too had much larger symbolism for the entire country, but the battle for marriage equality in our biggest state, and Florida and Arizona—even for those of us who might be unpartnered or uninterested—is THE ultimate issue for gay people!!! For it speaks to what it REALLY means to be gay which is less who you want to fuck than whom you want to love.

Each day that passes, each day closer to the election, when I don't hear about such a mega event happening, when I don't hear any update on the missing in action donations of Etheridge and the much richer Ellen, Rosie, and Elton, and the likes of Greg "Brothers & Sisters" Berlanti and Gus "Milk" Van Sant is a day that makes me feel I'm living in Upside Down World.

Yes, applause for Ellen's statements against 8 last night on Leno, but we need something much more CA-centric, much bigger, and much more focused than a soft sell squeezed between Leno's lame jokes. She threw a fundraiser Sunday night at her and Portia's Bel Air mansion that raised a million dollars so that farm animals won't be so cramped in their quarters. Free range eggs anyone?

Well, I'd like to feel truly free myself, like a first class citizen before I die, even if it's alone.

    Rupert the Deer! Rupert!!!

I think my head is about to explode. God how I love the sensibilities of English people, truly. They makes this world an almost-unbearably adorable place sometimes.

  8. I'm thrilled for the gay Ugandan granted assylum here in Canada. Now his next step is to urge his MP to put pressure on our government regarding its laissez faire-ish attitude towards corrupt and abusive regimes such as Museveni's.

    Dominic Purcell? Really?

That "monkey watcher", if one can call him that, should ask for a raise...

  9. NIC:

Forgive Andy if he does not fulfill all of your wants & whims but it's really his blog, after all, and it's not all about you you pathetic douche bag.

  10. Amen to LELAND:

Thank you, Jonathan Lewis (of Progressive Insurance, whom I will be re-upping with for sure now) for challenging Hollywood to action!

Ellen: human rights before chickens' rights!

(There is room for both, of course, but unfortunately the base of chicken supporters appears to be more generous than that of gay rights supporters.)

I hereby volunteer to spend one day crammed in a chicken coop for every $1 million Ellen donates to No on Prop 8.

    Congrats to Melissa as well!

I'm writing a letter to the editor of the Hollywood trades and the LA Times asking them to shame/cover the gay celebs who aren't taking the lead on public fundraising here.

    Fucking chickens!

  11. How exciting! Looks like Hate-filled Obsessive Gay Bore has a new screen name. Add 24PLAYSWITHHIMSELF (I'm flattered!) to HOGB, THATSRICH, ANOTHERDEMOCRATICIDIOT, and God knows how many others.

But isn't it strange that he'd be bitching at Nic for complaining about the content of the blog, when just a couple weeks ago he was posting this dreck:

You've got a great site which I have enjoyed for a couple of years but could you please be less of a shill for the DNC and provide more objective and fact-based political news? [...] how about a little critical examination of Barack Obama for a change unless you are abandoning all efforts to provide even a modicum of objectivity news gathering and reporting for your readers.

I love your site -- always have and always will -- but it's certainly not one I rely upon for objective political coverage.
