Would You Pay for a Trip to Space in This?

Fishbowl

Seriously, it's being developed...

"The state of New Mexico hopes to collaborate with two firms to create suborbital vehicles for space tourists. This illustration is one concept for the ship, which will afford passengers a 360° view of space. Armadillo Aerospace plans to build an initial prototype of the vehicle in 2009 and is aiming for crewed suborbital flights in 2010. The reusable vehicles will take off vertically from Spaceport America near Las Cruces, New Mexico. The ships can take two passengers at a time, and tickets will cost an estimated $100,000."

  1. Can we have sex in it?

  2. I live about 60 miles south of the "Spaceport" in New Mexico (and by Spaceport I mean slab of concrete in the middle of the desert). The development on this project has stalled since one of the three surrounding counties re-negged on the deal to raise taxes in order to fund its growth. Should be interesting to see if the spacecraft development gets hindered in anyway due to the stalled site development.

  6. yeah, Crispy, you know there's a reason why they decided to give it a passenger capacity of not 1, not 3, but 2.

  7. Umm... I'm all about space travel... but what the hell are those scary worm-looking things coming out of the floor?!?

Uh uh. That is a no-no for me... and I'm not too sure about the safety of that thing. I want a big hunk of solid, see-through, space metal surrounding my precious goodies...not some thin piece of Plexiglass!

Barely looks like enough room for one, never mind 2! That picture was taken a split second before Passenger One's foot smashed into Passenger Two's face and through the Plexiglass window into outer space and beyond...

Uh uh, no sir. Not for me. I'll wait for Virgin Galactic, thank you very much...

  10. Hey, DAVE, how've you been? How you think your Stingrays like our Philadelphia weather? Better than Boston.

  11. You know Derrick, I was going to talk smack before the games started as I expected my Rays to beat down the Phillies. But the republican umpires are taking the game away from us. And here in Tampa Bay? 70's and clear blue skies, though we play in a dome. What an ugly night last night, I am taking my chardonnay to my sun deck now to catch some rays to get ready for the Rays! And what a come back that will be.

  12. "I am taking my chardonnay to my sun deck now to catch some rays to get ready for the Rays! "

Better save that bottle for tomorrow night, DAVE. It's raining here like in the Old Testament.

And what do you mean "republican umpires"? Philly's the most Democratic town in America (next to Detroit, but they don't count)! Hey, that home plate umpire had a nice body for an old man, didn't he? Got all wet and sexy...with his pro-Philly strike zone. (I felt kinda' bad for your pitcher... a little, but that's life). To begin tomorrow's game in the sixth inning

  13. Sure, let them play in that weather. Maybe we can wait until the spring thaw? The Phonies, err, Phillies, sure do have some cute players, I have to admit. They looked good nice and wet. Ryan Howard can use his bat on me anytime. God, now I am starting to sound like The Queen.

  17. I live in Las Cruces, NM and I have been hearing about this space port for years! Nothing is happening....They even have signage up on I-25. I would love to see something like this actually happen.
