Obama Wins Dixville Notch and Hart's Location, NH

Traditionally the first locations in the U.S. to have their votes counted, Dixville Notch and Hart's Location, New Hampshire have reported in:

Tanner"Democrat Obama defeated Republican John McCain by a count of 15 to 6 in Dixville Notch, where a loud whoop accompanied the announcement in Tuesday's first minutes. The town of Hart's Location reported 17 votes for Obama, 10 for McCain and two for write-in Ron Paul. Independent Ralph Nader was on both towns' ballots but got no votes...With 115 residents between them, Dixville Notch and Hart's Location get every eligible voter to the polls beginning at midnight on Election Day. Between them, the towns have been enjoying their first-vote status since 1948."

The town of Dixville Notch has not gone Democrat since 1968, when Hubert Humphrey beat Richard Nixon by a tall of 8 to 4.

  2. Well, if your town is going to have a claim to fame...

I'm going to bed (it's 1am Sydney time)... maybe I'll check back in in 9 hours when some whole states worth of polls actually close... Neither Dixville Notch or Hart's Location are important enough to be listed on CNN's list of "towns".
