Protestors Hit Dallas Church That Advertised 'Gay is Not OK' Sermon

Dallas3

Last week I posted about First Baptist Church in Dallas which was to be the target of protest for a marquee advertising a sermon titled "Gay is Not Ok". About 100 people showed up to march outside the church on Sunday:

Dallas1"Singing 'Jesus Loves Me,' about 100 people stood outside the First Baptist Church of Dallas in protest to the sermon, which was part of a series called 'Politically Incorrect.' Pastor Dr. Robert Jeffress told First Baptist members to not believe the hate-speech hype and called the protest a plan to silence any criticism of homosexuality. 'In Romans I, it says because they rejected the true God and exchanged the truth of God for a lie, God gave them over to degrading passions - men with men and women with women,' he said. 'And so, the Bible says when the people reject the truth of God's word, they're open to any kind of immorality.' But Michael Robinson, the founder of Unified Community Against Gay Hate Crimes, said sermons like Jeffress' can lead to very serious hate crimes. 'What they are preaching from the pulpit is hate and that breeds these type of people to come out and do these type of crimes,' he said."

  2. Once again, it's the same tired rhetoric, the same message of fear, the same message of divisiveness and hate. The problems in the world and the USA are the fault of Gay people. Of all the problems facing the USA right now, the only things these folks can focus on is homosexuality?

Funny, past experience shows us it's always these overzealous advocates who have the most to hide. I can't wait for the news story (soon) about this guy caught in an airport restroom toe tapping scandal. When he gets done beating people with that bible of his, maybe he should review the part that says "pride goeth before the fall".

  4. Fantastic protest!!! You folks in Dallas are wonderful!!

People need to be educated on the genuine hurt to innocent human beings this kind of stuff causes.

  6. Part 2 of his sermon is next Sunday, we will be there too and hopefully in even greater numbers. It officially starts at 10AM but a lot of us are getting there even earlier, I'll be there at 9. If you can make it I urge to come and provide the gay children in that 10,000 member strong church hope after hearing a message of hate.

Also there is a prop 8 protest outside of Dallas city hall on Saturday at 12:30pm

  7. Amazing. Yep, will definitely be caught with a 14 year old boy in a compromising position back behind the pulpit some morning.

So, here's the "definition of evil" proposed by a researcher at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in his study (http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=defining-evil&ec=su_evil)

"The evil person must have tried to carry out this plan with the hope of "causing considerable harm to others," Bringsjord says. Finally, "and most importantly," he adds, if this evil person were willing to analyze his or her reasons for wanting to commit this morally wrong action, these reasons would either prove to be incoherent, or they would reveal that the evil person knew he or she was doing something wrong and regarded the harm caused as a good thing."

Good Lord! These freaks fit the definition of evil to the letter! Way to go Baptists!!

  8. He actually said homosexuality is a perversion and then said we should treat gay people with respect. How is calling someone a pervert treating them with respect? Clearly he wasn't listening to himself.
