Tom Cruise Has the Power

Tom Cruise exerts his power on the cover of the new Details.

Uncanny, eh?
Here's Details' full list.

POWER Bottom is more like it.

Really Details? Really? Just because he has a vanity picture coming out (Valkyrie) doesn't mean he deserves a cover on the POWER issue. Is he even relevant anymore? I am so tired of the magazine/ movie tie ins. Last week it was Hugh Jackman. I would be shocked if we don't see a Brad Pitt cover for his Forrest Gump remake

At least he ditched that unflattering high collar. And had his eyes done.

This is not about Scientology or crazy or closeted gayness. He just sucks as an actor.
I just don't get him. I sat through the trailer for "Valkyrie" and all I kept thinking was "This is Tom Cruise in a Nazi uniform acting and sounding like Tom Cruise in a Nazi uniform".
Much like every Kevin Costner movie to come out since "Dances with Wolves". "Look, it's Kevin Costner reciting lines, but still sounding like Kevin Costner!".
I guess the German accent was too hard for him to muster while trying to look smoldering on the screen.
0 out of 5 stars.

do producers really still believe that the audience can sit thru a movie with the unwatchable Tom Cruise in it and take the flick seriously.

Tom Cruise will always be significant. Just look at the number of posts by people who can't stand him. It's amazing that anyone would take the time to write about something they insist they don't care about or are sick of. Tom Cruise is a superstar and there is nothing you can do about it. Now, if you really want him to fall, just don't write about him.

I thought he was quite good in BORN ON THE 4TH OF JULY.

"Tom Cruise will always be significant .... Tom Cruise is a superstar and there is nothing you can do about it."
Yes, he's a fabulous, incredible, unstoppable superstar -- that's why he hasn't been able to open a hit movie in years.

Most Powerful Under 47?
How random! What about Most Powerful Under 54? Or 23 and 2 Months?

You think that we could focus on the homophobic religions (mormons), instead of snipping at the religions that aren't (scientology)?
I have friends that are Scientologists and were heavily involved in NO on 8. I understand the "in" deal in taking snipes at Tom, because it's the "thing" most of the bloggers do on the internet...
but really Andy? For shame Towleroad. If my friends saw this, I wouldn't know what to say.

I find him imminently watchable, especially in the Mission Impossible series. He is magnetic on screen, his personal and political life notwithstanding. Though I'm not sure if I'd like him if I spent time with him, I'll still rent his films and stare at his face/body when I see him on the street.
