Towleroad Guide to the Tube #404

9/11: Dick Cheney's highest moment of the last eight years.

SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN: Last Tuesday, the price was exactly right.

CIVIL/GAY RIGHTS: A pictorial tour through history.

MR. ROGERS: A pretty amazing blast from the past. Mr. Rogers single-handedly convinces Congress not to cut funding for PBS. What a different world we live in today.

  1. Great video on the span of civil rights history in the US!

    Break through those closet doors!

Paging Anderson Cooper: Red phone of courage. Paging Anderson Cooper....

Not just milling around with cute protest signs and candles accomplishing nothing which has been done more times than Judy sang "Over the Rainbow."

  2. Ah, Mr. Rogers can still put me down for nap time to this day. Love his advocacy, though!

  3. God bless, Mr. Rogers... a truly iconic figure whose impact on generations of children is immeasurable -- he certainly had a tremendous impact on me.

  4. (In my best monotone voice)... I'm sorry but Drew Carey has ruined TPIR he doesnt get excited at all and an event like this should have been fun it just seemed like another dull, boring finale to the show. Even though I liked him on his own show, I do not think he is cut out to be the host of this (supposed) fun, exciting game show.

  5. I was substitute teaching in high school when Mr. Rogers died, and not one kid--not one, not ever--made a joke about it. He seems to have been one of the most genuinely kind, caring, and decent men ever to positively impact the United States and its children.

What a contrast to the malevolent hatefulness of Dick Cheney.

  6. Yeah, great video.

Unfortunately Metallica are used as the soundtrack and they support the use of their music as an instrument of torture on Iraqi prisoners. That would make them anti-human rights and thus makes their selection as the song for this video grossly of inappropriate.

  7. Drew wasn't excited on The Price is Right because the guy cheated. He was given signals from the audience.

Standards and Practices took 45 minutes between the guess and the announcement, when the normal wait is 15 minutes.

    Sad day.

  10. Shirtlifter I dont understand. I've been to a taping before and EVERYONE gets signals from the audience. Thats what all the yelling and screaming is in the background. Also, it didnt take 15 minutes from the guess to the announcement when I was there. They guess, go to commercial and 2 minutes later, they announce the winner. More info?

  11. Drew Carey absolutely sucks. What a shitty job on that double showcase win. Worst game show host ever! CBS, please come to your senses and replace him with anybody!
