  1. He is a great guy! I am glad to call him a friend and neighbor...

  2. He may very well be a great guy. All due congratulations to him personally but as far as the gay community is concerned this is not only no big fuckin deal but it is a shameless and insulting bone thrown to us in an effort to distract us from the fact that he has sucker punched us in every possible way since his election. He has not put one single openly gay person in his cabinet and we are the ONLY minority not included in the upper echelon of his administration. He then sucker punched us with Rick Warren and then, just for good measure, he replaced a pro-gay, pro gay marriage, pro choice DNC chair with a right wing, anti-gay, anti marriage equality, ANTI CIVIL UNIONS, anti-choice chair.

There was no greater Obamabot than me before the election but I have to say I have really been disgusted with many of the things he has done, as far as the gay comminity is conerned, since his election.

This appointment means absolutely nothing. So he appointed a homo for a staff position. Let's not forget that Rick "Man on Dog" Santorum had a gay chief of staff, Tom Delay had a gay chief of staff. Bob Barr had a gay chief of staff. James Inhofe had a gay chief of staff. Mel Martinez had/has a gay chief of staff. Trent Lott had a gay chief of staff. Hell virtually EVERY homobigot on the hill has or has had a gay chief of staff so I'm not impressed at all that Obama has appointed a homo to his staff.

Big fuckin deal Obama. How about appointing a gay person to a cabinet position to join your United Colors of Beneton executive branch. You say you want to be inclusive of all points of view? Where is your gay marriage supporting person of faith representation at your inaugural? You have two pastors representing but neither supports gay marriage. Could you not have considered the gay marriage supportive President of your own gay marriage supportive denomination, a MAINLINE denomination rather than a mega-church, to balance out the anti gay marriage pastors? Why not Dr. John Thomas for the invocation and gay supportive but not gay marriage supportive civil rights hero Dr. Lyons for the benediction? Why not pick a DNC chair with a record of being at least minimally supportive of gay rights?

I am so goddamned disappointed in Obama at this point. His triangulation makes Bill Clinton's look like a radical left-wing hippy fest.

Maybe we should have gone with Hillary though I sincerely doubt that she would have been one bit better.

  3. Couldn't agree with Joe more. Obama is one giant disappointment regarding equality for gays. This is just another bone. Thanks Obama...for nothing.

  4. good grief guys, let's let the man get in to office first!!!! he is BY FAR the most supportive, and open-minded president (elect) that this country has ever seen, where gay issues are concerned....
calm the HELL down and let's see what he does...GEEZ...

  5. Deeminus:
I couldn't agree more. The gays have already skewered him and he's still two weeks from taking office. Our community is nothing if not dramatic :)

  6. How do you boys feel about Obama's appointment of Tim Kaine?

Do you not think that this is something that gay people should be concerned about?

I don't think that that is being dramatic at all and if it is I'd rather be dramatic than a spineless fag that never stands up for himself or his community.

  7. be careful JOE, you have no idea what any of us who may disagree with you on this particular issue might have done for OUR community...it is still America, and just because we're all gay doesn't mean we all see the world through the same eyes...

  8. The last sentence of my comment was directed at DAMIEN who pulled a negative gay stereotype out of his ass to dismiss the concerns of those of us who have voiced them. I don't appreciate people insinuating that I, and others like me who have expressed concerns, are being dramatic (aka hysterical) just because we have voiced some of our legitimate concerns about some of Obama’s choices. I don't have to wait for him to take office to be concerned about choices he's making today and, you're right, this IS America and as a citizen who voted on November 4th I have every right to question my elected leaders whenever and however I please on what ever concern I may have. It seems to me that our community has spent way too much time being quiet, not rocking the boat and waiting for massa to allow us a seat at the table or to take our concerns seriously. I personally am tired of being quiet and waiting and expecting our leaders to do the right thing for the GLBT community.

Do you not have any concerns about his appointment of Kaine to replace Dean at the helm of the DNC? If you don't then you might want to read up on Kaine's positions and record on GLBT rights issues.

  9. I honestly think that Hillary would have been better for us.

I still support any Democrat president over the other choice but, I'm starting to think we're fucked.
