Fatone

Former N'Sync member Joey Fatone was somehow assigned the duty of interviewing on the SAG red carpet and had his awkward questions for James Franco all lined up.

Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Joey Fatone is a homophobic moron. Tough to play gay? Hey, it's called acting. Franco handled the idiocy with style, grace and that winning smile.

  2. What an idiot Fatone is. And I most definitely WILL miss Lisa & Joey live on Oscar night.

  3. I'd like to urge everyone who watches the clip of this moron to write into TV Guide and complain about the insulting questions Joey Fat One asked.

  4. I don't think he means any harm but well-meaning and clueless doesn't always equal harmless. I'd say he should ask his buddy Lance Bass the inverse, but that's just begging for another foot in the mouth.

  5. Hey, joey, is it hard playing a stereotypically sloppy, moronic goomba? Damn!

  6. Small minded has-been.

  7. You could see it in James franco's eyes 'why do i have to talk to this moron?', must get really boring after a while

  8. I wonder if it was HARD for Fatone to come UP with it.

  10. Girls, girls, PLEASE! Why so sensitive? PMS-ing are we?

His exact question was [sic] "is it more challenging to play a homosexual than a straight role - I would imagine so..." This would indicate that he thinks it's not as easy to play gay as people think it is....it's not just a limp wrist and a swishy walk.

Looking at where he is coming from, exactly how many people from his (old) neighborhood gets to ask a question on this subject? Give him credit - at least he didn't use the word 'fag' or 'fairy' in his question.

Listen, if we keep lying in wait to attack straight people every time on the slightest slip they may (perceived or not) have made, they're not going to be so willing to support us on the issues that are really important to the GLBT community.

  11. CARIBTONY,

Fisrt off, I'm no girl. Second I don't have to take b.s. from either you or Fatone.

  12. ah - celebrity actors and the insipid trials that they go through to hawk the culture. "is it hard to play a homosexual? did you find the role a stretch?" all this from a goon in a rented tux, trading off being one-fifth of a short shelf-life boy band. dude - "is hard to play a douchebag?" - because it sure looks to come natural to you. lisa & joey - ah, not so much.

  13. I dunno...Joey's nowhere near the brightest wattage on that carpet, but I don't think his questions were mean-spirited. Just insipid and revealing of how nimwitted he is.

  14. I thought he was implying something about Franco. It sounded to me like he was hinting that playing a homosexual wasn't a stretch for him, particularly when he contrasted it with Franco playing a stoner.

Whatever the case, it's obvious he was teasing Franco, not setting out to insult gay people.

  15. LOL...its funny...Never do you hear the question, "Was it hard to play...? ..."a murderer"..."abusive husband"..."a drug addict"..."a racist biggot"..."an adulterer."
Since now its PROVEN that playing gay doesnt equate career suicide, we REALLY need to get passed this. The truly hard thing still is BEING LBGT and still being a leading actor. Joey isnt a biggot, he's just ignorant...though he has NO excuse to be.

  16. I don't think anybody was insinuating that it was insulting. Perhaps to Franco's acting skills, but not to gays. Just embarrassing for Fat One in an ignorant, moronic way.

  17. The video wouldn't play for me. But if we have straight guys going on the Tyra Banks show telling us that they choose to have actual sex with guys in online broadcasts, why are we still bothering to ask straight actors about playing gay in a Hollywood movie? If they say it's difficult, I'm just not buying their sob story any more.

  18. It was just a lame interview, just like all the Brokeback ones. Why don't they ask Neil Patrick Harris this question about playing a str8 guy?

    Posted by: Manergy | Jan 26, 2009 9:06:33 PM

  19. A lot of us gays pass for straight most days of our lives and get away with it. It must be hard to play something your not?

Quoted for truth. Jesus fucking Christ, what is it with you people sometimes?

  21. "Homosexual"?

How last millenium of Fatone to use this word in a non scientific conversation.

I doubt he meant anything negative by it but he should be informed that "homosexual" has become the word of choice of the anti-gay set.

Sorry Jason and Caribtony, some of us have set our sights a bit higher than simply settling for not being called fags and fairies.

Don't much care for "you people" either.

  22. The main gays who use words like "girls" "fags" and "fairies" are usually the BIGGEST "GIRLS" "FAGS" and "FAIRIES" themselves.Im masculine and ONLY hang with masculine gay men and NONE of us use such words. We do however use the word queen to describe those gays who carry themselves in that unsettling dubious manner. You wont see me walking around in a skimpy alittle tank top and skin tight hip-hugging jeans with glitter all over my face yelling "MISS THANG" or "GRRRRRRRL".That is tired, unattractive and is the exact embarrassing stereotypical image that heteros interpret us as.As for any "queen" or "str8 loser" who calls me that, they WILL get their face bashed in.

  23. Hey, ya know what chrisssypoo, that hyper masculine ACT is just as played as its opposite. Be yourself.

  24. Maybe someone should has Fatone how hard it was to play the part of a good singer.

  25. No one cares if it was difficult to portray a homosexual. We are all human. Milk was an educational film. The question should have been: "Do you think that people who knew nothing about those early struggles pictured in Milk have now been motivated?"
