'Gays = Adulterers, Murderers' Says GOP Lawmaker at CO Bill Debate

A gay rights bill that would add domestic partners to the list of dependents eligible for health insurance was given initial backing by the Senate yesterday, but not before some hateful rhetoric could be spewed by one of the state's GOP lawmakers.

Renfroe Sen. Scott Renfroe, R-Greeley talked of God's laws: "Homosexuality is seen as a violation of this natural created law, and it is an offense to God. I'm not saying this (homosexuality) is the only sin that's out there. We have murder. We have all sorts of sin. We have adultery. And we don't make laws making those legal, and we would never think to make murder legal."

The Denver Post reports: "Sponsor Sen. Jennifer Veiga, D-Denver, said it was a 'fair and equitable' step that would help Colorado compete for employees with businesses and other states that offer such coverage. She also said 17 Colorado counties and cities already offer such benefits. Veiga, who is a lesbian, said she respected Renfroe's beliefs but didn't share them. She also said that lawmakers have to do what's best for all people and can't always follow their own moral beliefs. 'God also created me, and the last time I checked I am who I am, people. If that doesn't reconcile with how you view the world, I'm sorry. But I don't always see the world the way others see it as well,' she said. Veiga said the bill is about extending health care only to an estimated 79 people and doesn't address any of the rights, such as tax benefits, available to married couples."

The bill must survive another vote before moving to the House.

  1. I'm so angry, I don't know what to say. This ignorant bible-thumping moron actually compared gay people to murderers. You'd think we were living back in 1909. I'm surprised he didn't say that gay people should be stoned to death.

When I look at his creepy smile and beady little eyes, you can tell this God-loving religious saint is probably cheating on his wife and has 10 GB of porn on his hard drive.

My heart goes out to Sen. Jennifer Veiga, who has to work with this a-hole.

  3. Well done Jen! Such dignity in the face of such nasty immature behaviour.

  4. What I find sadly ironic about the whole situation is how these same people decry the unjustness of theocracies in other countries and then turn around and advocate one the US only with their interpretation of their religion.

  11. "....a violation of this natural created law, and it is an offense to God......"

1- to occur in nature = NATURAL (see animal homosexuality and bisexuality) for to be un-natural is to NOT occur in nature at all

    2- "god's law"
--------A)he looks very clean shaven. per LEVITICUS any man who shaves their beard must be taken outside the city and STONED TO DEATH

--------B) his suit like the majority of men's suits is most likely a cotton wool blend = LEVITICUS the wearing of mixed fabric clothing = STONED TO DEATH

---------C) if he is married and his wife has ever approached his food while she was menstruating (on the rag) let alone touched it / prepared it = LEVITICUS she must be taken out from amongst the people and STONED TO DEATH

  12. Another credit to his race. Anybody longing for the threads highlighting homophobic Rappers/Reggae singers and black ministers?

  13. Derrick

    sadly LOL

Yeah, if he was AA we sadly would see a ton of racist gays spouting off racist BS and how he represents ALL African Americans.

    Ughhhh Anyway

I'll play along..... DAMN whites are so homophobic. Whites never support us. This guy represents ALL whites. So typical of ALL whites

  14. She RESPECTS this bigot's BELIEFS?

    I sincerely hope she misspoke.

She should respect his right to his beliefs. She should respect his right to voice his opinion but to say that she respects his beliefs, when they are demonstrably false and patently bigoted, is outrageous.

  15. Thank you Zeke! I was also taken aback by the report of her statement of respect for his beliefs. I trust that she was misquoted.

That clarified, I heartily support his first amendment right to spout off and spew his ignorance in the public square. The more such bigots publish their idiocy, the more they convince fair-minded people of the validity of our struggle for equal basic human rights.

  16. Ah,Senator Renfroe, but we do make murder and adultery legal. War is legal. Even if it's unprovoked, based on lies and distortions and waged against countries that did not attack us and innocent children and women (some of whom were doubtlessly pregnant when we killed them). Then there is capital punishment. Isn't that, in reality, State sponsored murder? And isn't it applied to men, women and in some cases the mentally handicapped and the innocent? Wouldn't executing an innocent victim be murder? As for adultery, it too is legal. According to "God's law" marriage is forever. So divorce and allowing remarriage is legalized adultery. As is premarital sex, that, according to "God's law" is also adultery. Is it against the law to work on Sunday and to do business on the Sabbath? If not, then we're legalizing that violation of "God's law". I could go on, but I think you get the idea.

You see, it's all a matter of interpretation and translation. If there is a god, and there is really no concrete, scientific, irrefutable proof that there is, then his word is subject to misinterpretation and mistranslation. The proverbial caveat of the slick politician is maybe "his" statements were "taken out of context"? In any event, you were elected to do the people's work, not god's. You are elected to support and defend the right of the people as defined in the Constitution, a document that provides for fair and equal treatment of all citizens under the law. You, Mr. Renfroe are a bigot, a fool and an incompetent.

  17. Hey, thanks, JIMMY:

There have been so many black homophobes highlighted in the media over the last few months--you'd have thought all white folks in the country were gay-friendly, Aryan Angels. You'd've thunk that there weren't any homophobic honkies in existence anymore. Well, yeah there are, homies.

Thanks for joining in my comedy routine, JIMMY...I guess you played the "straight man" here, hunh?

  19. Ya know, if you look at the original greek in the new testament scriptue people of his opinion tend to quote, the meaning is more "Unnaturalness"- aka, if there is a Homosexual man it would be wrong for him to take on a woman as a bride, and vice versa.

This completely bytpasses the fact taht it was also considered more godly to not marry- and if one is to marry, it is because they aren't able to refuse the privileges allowed by marriage, aka sex. ;)

  20. Jimmy,

Thank you for pointing out the double standard (once again).

In the last week alone, there must have been 5-6 postings here on homophobic murders committed exclusively by white men. I've yet to see any outrage over the horrors of "white homophobia" in America and the United Kingdom.

  21. JIMMYBOYO, that was a perfect response-how come we never hear such refutations against "christian" hypocrites?! And as for the lesbian's wimpy response...sister,where's your strength,

  23. Actually, Thank god for the gays!!!

If we didn't have gays, there would be nothing "fabulous", especially Mr. Derek-Fabulous!

If you would like to see Mr. Derek Fabulous, check out

Raised in Colorado, my father who still resides in Greeley, I believe this Republican Renfroe is absolutely ignorant as a politician, and agree with Democratic Veiga......gays are not murders...they are actually quite fabulous!
